I had transfered the pattern to the belt blank only to find out I didnt care for it in this project. Well I just hung it on the wall and there it sat for about a month. It finally got the best of me and I had to do somethng with it. I figured if I used a basket weave and just beat the MOO out of it I could hide the underlying pattern. Ta Da!! It worked. If you look real close you can still see it but what the heck, lemonade. Now the battery in my cheap camera is failing to hold a charge. Oh well, you get what you pay for. Gonna go look at a new one soon.

Attached is a plaque that was given to me by Kathleen Bond when I was learning saddle making.

David, your gift from Kathleen makes me laugh. I remember my first trip to the Tandy store. My forst husband was very experienced, and had never been in this store before. He looked at every hide in the store, and wore the manager down getting discounts on hides with all sorts of imperfections. In the car on the way home, I asked him why he wanted such ratty leather? He laughed and said that it was half the price, and when he got done beating on it, no one would ever know those marks were there. I remember once he bought a side with a huge ugly brand, and turned it into a purse flap that we sold for several hundred dollars to a happy customer.

Good job making lemonade, Carr52! It's hard to see the detail in the pics, but it looks like a well constructed belt.

Johanna
