It has seen a few miles and has not been used for a couple of years. My dad bought it used a number of years ago and used it for a re-upholstery hobby he had. He has since passed away and we would like have an idea of value. I know that it is completely dependent on the condition of the machine. I am just looking for a

Holster

I have been asked about a gun holster that looks like a cell phone case. I found something on line called a "sneaky pete". Does anybody know whether this holster falls into the same catagory as the wallet holster. I read an article in the Leather Crafters Journal basically saying for leather crafters to stay away from making gun wallet holsters.

Clicker Dies

Shoemakers in Connecticut here, inquiring about clicker dies. We just purchased a USMC Model "C" clicker press and are eager to work it into our shoemaking process. Has anyone here had experience making clicker dies? Ordering clicker dies? I was looking at Swanson in New Hampshire as a possible die maker ... Is one die better than another? Is one die maker better/cheaper than another? Should I keep using shears until I can't keep up with my orders? Seriously though, I would love to hear

Saddle Maker...jeff Kask

I am searching for information about a saddle maker...Jeff Kask. He was from Santa Fe, New Mexico, and I was told he made saddles for several Hollywood movie stars including Robert Duval, Kurt Russell and Tommy Lee Jones as well as making the saddles used in the movie Tombstone. Any information and insight would be greatly appreciated.

What Machine Should I Purchase

I've been researching machines, trying to decide. I've looked at Cobra, Techsew, and Cowboy. I make large panniers and packsaddle riggings. I also make chaps, saddle bags, etc. These machines, i think are all made at the same factory. Is there really one above the other, if so why. Or is there another machine i should look at? Thank you for your help in advance.

Well Hello There!

Hello, strange new community of artisans and hobbyists! I've been brought to your community through some hours of searching for profitable crafting ventures to embark upon with my leftover materials from a recent renaissance faire costume. Of course, being the purist that I am (perhaps a bit of a perfectionist as well), I just had to make sure that the armor for my costume was actually armor, and not... well, a costume; this has left me with quite the expensive pile of 9oz tooling leather, pigs

Requesting Advice

Hi! I am new to this site and created this blog to create conversations about how I can get started designing leather handbags. I know absolutely nothing about getting the bags manufactured or finding a leather professional to aid in the design process. I'm not even sure this is the correct site to go about this, but I have to start somewhere! Basically to sum it all up I'm an aspiring leather handbag designer and I am trying to decide which route would be the best route to take when looking for

Having Issues Dyeing My Leather Saddle?

So I stripped and dyed my tan western leather saddle black with fiebings dye and it looked really nice, and all the parts were covered. There were a few places that just didn't want to dye, but they eventually did. I let it dry for 24 hours. Then I started to apply the acrylic resolene (also fiebings) and it took some of the black dye off, exposing the tan color underneath. I think the spots that changed back to tan were the places that were hard to dye. Does anyone know what I did wrong? Did I

Problem With Pfaff 1245

I am new to sewing on a machine, I have only been hand sewing for about a year, that being said; I have a PFAFF 1245 the timing is fine but the thread keeps breaking. I have tried #69, #92, and #207 on top and for the bobbin I use the #69 thread. I get started and before long the thread breaks, and in reverse it will break right away. If someone could tell me if I have missed the boat and doing something wrong. I have been using 7-8 oz. leather and have had the same problem with 2-3 oz. leather?
