I really haven't had much time to work on this saddle as I have been very busy with work and a house I am renovating - However, on Saturday between building a staircase and loading a bunch of square bales I was able to get this final ground seat piece in - Overall shape is comfortable - I wish it was a little flatter in profile up front...Less rise I guess is what I mean.

Hi, can anyone here help advise me in regards to which is a good quality servo motor. Sewpro, Enduro, Sewquiet, etc. I plan to use it on a singer 51W55. I would like to be able to sew 1/4'' thick leather slowly. Thanks a lot
So on Saturday I got the ground seat for this rig started - I use an all leather ground seat based off of the tutorial provided by Steve Brewer in the saddle construction forum on this website.. I like the all leather for the simple reason that it gives me a lot of flexibility - Especially for an amateur maker - If you don't like how things are feeling you can skive away more leather.
On this one I still need to install the final cover piece, however want to make sure I am good and happy with
Here's my new saddle shop - It's really compact - 8'x10' - However that's all the room I had and it is definitely functional so far.
And here is my first saddle which has a few months of riding on it now...There are things I am doing differently on these next saddles based on having used this one.
Some differences will be: Narrower cantles - 12.5" instead of 13" wide. Less cantle dish - 1" instead of 1.5", stirrup leathers will be 2.5" instead of 3", trying to get a flatter

It's been a while since I've posted anything, so this might not get shown where I want it to. For someone who has only been working leather for only a few months, you are really good. Some people are not this good even at ten or more years. You have a talent for this work and all I can say is ....... don't stop now.
So in view of getting back into the groove of leather work (I spend all summer riding / doing outdoor stuff) I have decided to do some practice work first - Meaning building a pair of chinks for a friend. These will be square bottomed, 'buckaroo' style out of a glove tan leather in a tan color.

I am a very green saddle maker - Have built one saddle so far and am about to start saddles #2 and saddle #3.
This blog will allow you to follow my progress and also, will help some of you who are contemplating jumping into addle making understand what is involved.

Hello all.
I am looking for some ideas that I hope you experienced fellows might be able to help me with. Firstly, where can you buy traceable patterns, that relate to motorcycles and a beginner tooler I have just purchased a new Indian motorcycle, so Indian head patterns would look nice tooled on my vintage leather seats and saddle bags. All information would be grately appreciated.

Please be patient I'm new at leather work and blogging. I'm having trouble with my dyed leather bleeding on clothes even after I put 2 coats of supersheen on it. I've also used fiebings resolene with the same result. This is with or without resist. I buff the leather before final finish and I let each coat dry for 24hrs. What am I doing wrong

I'm new at this blogging so I'm not sure if I'm even in the right place. Anyway I'm looking at two machines one is a Juki LU 562,
the other one is Nakajima 280L. Trying to find out if they are good machines and what they are worth.
I am new to leather working and have purchased a Tandy Pro 3800-00. Can anyone tell me where to find embossing rolls that will fit this machine? I have checked ebay, Tandy, and several other sites with no luck.
I have deleted all of my blog entries as of now. I no longer wish to contribute my experiance and knowledge to this blog/site. I will post on another blog as soon as I find time to do it. My thanks to those of you who I have enjoyed good relationships with.
