I just got through working with the little boy next door on some leather and it got me thinking about kids. We mangled a bracelet, and some hair-on-hide and he had a great time, and I enjoyed it too. We went outside and made a matting tool out of a stick, and he stayed and worked on leather while his mom ran to get his sister.
I like knowing that for a while most days he's respected and listened to and enjoyed. And it got me thinking of all the scouts a friend of mine works with and how many l

I am new to this site and trying to learn to use it. I have recently purchased a Singer Industrial model 31-15 and if any one can share information on this machine it would be a big help like proper thread and needle and thickness of leather that can be sewed.
I hope this goes through. Thanks
Hi, all. I have a Hansen string cutter and also a rounder. They are the original style Frank made, and have a base with drilled holes which you then bolt down onto...whatever...I bolted them onto a board and then would clamp the whole unit to a work table. (I see that the new ones have a built-in clamp). It also has the original style of locknuts (not the wingnuts). For me personally, I think the old style is much superior because you can REALLY tighten it down rather than just finger-tighten,
Since the incident at chat I'm in total panic mode. Everything I look at of mine looks like junk to me. I'm working on a wallet and just started it over because it looked like a kid's school project to me. I don't know what to do or how to stop this. If I can get this wallet to just go right maybe I'll get some of my self-confidence back, but I don't know. I'm thinking of quitting the Marketplace because I feel like such a fraud. I don't know how one conversation could have devastated me to this
Zelikovitz Leathers has been appointed distributor for the Testors AZTEK line of Airbrushes. As many crafters know, truly intricate detail work requires the use of an airbrush. Airbrushes allow the crafter to control the spray pattern from narrow to wide, making it possible to create sharp demarcations and delicate lines. Also allows crafters to mix colors. Testors offers the easiest-to –use and easiest-to-maintain airbrush system in the world. Once crafters try out the Testors’ Aztek airbrush s
Hi, I am new to this sight. I have never worked with leather, before working with it to make jesses and anklets for my Red Tail Hawk. I have made several different styles of anklets. I did not know about the stretch of leather and how to make leather stronger. Does anybody else have any advice for a beginner working with leather to make my equipment

I am trying to get started in leather works. I want to do everything from leather bible covers to leather purses to saddles. I am trying to find a sewing machine suitable for what I need. It is my understanding that I am going to need two sewing machines. A lightweight machine and a heavy duty machine. I found a used Adler 120 - 8A machine for $2,250.00 and I found a Singer 20U for $300.00. Would either of these machines be something I would need and, if so, are the prices good? Any help would
I have some old leather craftaid templates and patterns that i am looking to get rid of. I have over 1,000 patterns and over 200 templates. I have anywhere from Native american to cartoons. Im looking to sale the whole collection. If anyone knows of anyone that wouldbe great.
well I have to admit this is the most user unfriendly blog system I have tried to use. Yes I am a newbie. I could complain more but I'll just get straight to it. I've just gotten a singer 29k2 and I'm searching for parts. Is there anyone who can help? Also, does anyone know why I can't adjust the stitch length up? I have slid the adjuster to the bottom but it makes no odds. Still, it is a really nice stitch and I mean on saddle skirting too. The thickness of the leather makes no difference wha
Hello, I was wondering if there are any other leathercraft stores other than; Tandy Lather Factory and Hobby Lobby.

I do custom leather work primarily focusing on saddles. Recently I obtained 8 antique saddles in a deal. There was a Hess and Hopkins, Leddys, Jumbo, and JC Higgins with others very old but no makeres marks. I have just got some time on my hands and began tearing down the Leddy's to clean it up. I have seen 100's of saddles and the trees they're built on. Today was a first for me. Hopefully someone can spread some light on this one for me. Everything is normal about it except the tree bars. Wher

Does anyone know how to get a listing on the directory page? Love this site, and would like to become more involved, but I haven't received a reply to my request for this in months. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
