How to start a guild Sample bylaws for a guild Operating policies and procedures This information was graciously provided by Ernie Wayman, who is retiring as president of the International Federation of Leathercraft Guilds (IFoLG) this year. This info is modeled on The Central Indiana Leathercrafters Guild and can be adapted to suit an individual guild's needs. Note: anyone can form a guild, but your guild must be accepted into the IFoLG to have any voting rights or participation in the competitions. There are standards and obligations to joining the IFoLG. No individual is a member of the IFoLG. The IFoLG is governed by the delegates sent by the member guilds. T…

Hi everyone! I am a part of a group of advertising students in Texas working with an emerging leatherworking nonprofit, whose mission is to preserve and promote the leathermaking craft. As part of our project, we are conducting primary research by gathering insights from those currently interested and involved in the craft. We encourage you to take the time to fill out our survey and aid us in guiding our research and strategy as we develop recommendations to support this new organization. Your input is greatly valued, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your responses with us. Here’s the survey: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/LTR0Pe3AAE Please…

Let me start off by saying, I’m not looking for pirated copies of books. I am willing to pay for legitimate copies of the titles I’m looking for. Last February I sold off half of my leather shop and moved to South America for a while to live and work with the gauchos here and learn their style of leatherwork with a focus on their approach to rawhide and leather braiding. While I’m here I’m supporting myself by plying my trade as a leatherworker. I had to leave behind my physical library, and I didn’t think that was going to be an issue. Turns out, not only do I want the books for my own reference but I’m being asked to share my skills with others here by teaching. …

I recieved these photographs from John Herold Baggs, Wyoming who posted an ad on eBay. The cost to me was free and it happens to be his personal collection, but it was posted for collectors of Craft Tools. He also gave me permission to post the photographs here for all LW members and visitors. If you want to drop him an email of "Thanks!" Make sure to let him know where you got the photographs for your resource library. I would encourage it. I did also invite him to join us since he is a leather crafter. slick@dteworld.com Save it, print it or delete it. Good Luck and Happy Holidays!! Page 4 of 4 Enjoy!

I have heard people recommend the "Sheridan Leather Carving" book ... but I can't find it anywhere. I see used copies of it being sold for obscene amounts of money. https://www.amazon.com/Sheridan-Style-Carving-Gardner-Clinton/dp/0967964709 Won't Tandy make more? Does anyone have a PDF? Good grief!
