Due to the fact that the Help Wanted section of Leatherworker.net is open to guest postings, all posts made by guests will require approval by a moderator before they become visible. We understand that this is an inconvenience for guests who post or reply in this section of our forum. The moderators are volunteers who do this in their spare time. Some of us have day or night jobs. Thus, a post or reply made under Help Wanted may sit there invisible to the participants for several hours before one of the mods logs in and sees the notification about a post awaiting approval. As one of these moderators who has to approve posts in this forum, I strongly recommend j…

I realize that this section of LWN allows non-members to post and reply. These non-members do not have profiles, or the privilege of using our private message system. This means that anybody wishing to contact non-member guests who post in this Help Wanted forum will have to give some contact info in plain sight. I want those who do this to be aware of the risk. Posting email addresses in plain text on forums that are world readable (as is LWN) leaves them open to automated "crawlers" that act as email account harvesters. They scour web pages all over the Internet searching for recognizable email addresses and copy any they find to a database that is sold to marketer…

We have lots of guests posting requests for assistance with their leather work and projects. Many of the responders will be full members of Leatherworker.net. As such, they are accustomed to making use of our private messages (PM) system and also are able to access the email addresses of other members. But Guests do NOT have access to either, nor can you look up the profiles of our members. Therefore, if you are posting a new topic or simply replying to another person's topic and are not a member of Leatherworker.net, make sure you include your contact information. The most common ways of doing this are by listing a phone number, an email address, or a link to your p…

Looking to make (padded leather) boxing gloves in the US. An extremely difficult skill, perhaps the most difficult. I have several workers who are ready to be trained. You can either be paid upfront for your guidance or collect a royalty per pair of gloves sold, we can figure out the numbers. If you've never done it, here is a video on making ordinary boxing gloves:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNqjMnPVV5Q and here is a video on making high-end boxing gloves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmhT9eMXNxs Most leather workers I've approached have admitted upfront they have zero chance of making gloves 😮

I already have: • A salpa mockup • Digital and paper patterns • A full tech pack with specs • Photos and visual references of the intended final shape I’m now looking for a leatherworker or small shop (anywhere in the world) who can: • Turn these assets into a clean, structured leather prototype • Work with curved, sculptural forms (this is not a slouchy or soft bag) • Handle remote collaboration (I’m based in NYC but open to working with someone anywhere) • …

Hi, I recently bought two cans oil advertised as pure neatsfoot oil. However, I have worked with neatsfoot oil from other brands before and this one seems different in multiple ways. I had used starwax neatsfoot oil, wich was odorless, and stayed liquid even at about 10 degrees celcius, and saphir brand, wich had a bit of a smell but not a suspicious one and remained liquid too. The oil I just bought is supposedly from a brand called P.Paulin, and not only does it have a very strong rancid smell, it does not stay liquid under Id say 20 degrees celcius. It is also cloudy while the other brands were transparent. is this normal? is it just a differen…
