Hi guys, hope you are all having a great Memorial Day Holiday. I need some help on the history of the Billy Cook Saddles. Does anybody know the story around Billy Cook going out of business and selling the design to Simco/Longhorn? I have a Greenville Tx Billy Cook saddle and think it is a great saddle, only to be told by another person that this is actually a Simco saddle not a BC saddle afterall?? Any help on the history of these saddles and the history of Billy Cook? thanks ron

The seller knows nothing about saddles - Inheirited. What year was this carving popular? What type of tree was usually used? And just for fun the approximate retail price the saddle sold for, I am going through my old western horsemen but in 2/3 of the time Tex Tan is advertising belts or stores that carry their saddles

I just bought this saddle. I am happy with the saddle either way, but my preference would be for it to look a bit more even. I've tried searching, but I had trouble finding this specific situation. Lots of people wanting to dye black, I just want mine to be a more even brown color, and I'm not even terribly particular about the shade, somewhere medium-ish, but dark-ish would be okay too. I just started playing around with a bit of leather work, so this is definitely not something I've done before. Is there any dye, stain, or anything that would work to make this look a bit nicer?

I found a saddle that is, from Legacy Saddlery. It only has black marker four a number on the underside of the pommel/ horn. It is stamped legacy, saddlery behind the horn, and it also has an "L" stamped on the outside of the stirrup leather above the stirrup. An extensive search on the internet, nothing. I'm trying to figure out the maker of this saddle. It's very well made. Its very wide flat bars.

Hello everyone! After a death in my family, I recieved my family's very old draft team harnesses. Initally, I know they were stored in a basement in a darker area in a plastic tote. And honestly I don't know if they have ever been cleaned in their entire lifetime. Upon examination, it looks like they have white spots all over. After many hours of research and gathering my materials I started with 2 tests to get the white off, only on a very tiny spot. 1st: Using a hair dryer on low heat and far away from the leather I was trying to see if the white was fat spores coming up. Some did go away while other parts of the white stayed. 2nd: I used a v…

Can anyone provide some history on this saddle. I bought it at a garage sale and really like it. It is a very solid saddle. I will definitely keep it as a backup to my new saddle.

Curious if anyone knows anything about this saddle or maker. The latigo holder says MADE BY JERK STEINER 1952 WYOMING. The seat is harder than a math test, but otherwise the saddle is well made. Thanks, Randy
