Hi guys, hope you are all having a great Memorial Day Holiday. I need some help on the history of the Billy Cook Saddles. Does anybody know the story around Billy Cook going out of business and selling the design to Simco/Longhorn? I have a Greenville Tx Billy Cook saddle and think it is a great saddle, only to be told by another person that this is actually a Simco saddle not a BC saddle afterall?? Any help on the history of these saddles and the history of Billy Cook? thanks ron

The family of Charles Martinez, owner of McCabe Silversmiths from 1935-1960, has just recently completed assembling the saddle from marked silver pieces left behind since his death in 1960. It was a collaboration of artists including the Stanton family who purchased the last of the McCabe business along with a well know leather tooler, Bob Scott using traditional patterns and color as Dad would of done. The Ketchum Saddlery was always dad's preferred leather outfit, but they are no longer in business so we had to search out someone who could fill their boots and feel we found the best in the trade with the guidance of Tony Stanton. We believe that Dad was possibly …

I found a saddle that is, from Legacy Saddlery. It only has black marker four a number on the underside of the pommel/ horn. It is stamped legacy, saddlery behind the horn, and it also has an "L" stamped on the outside of the stirrup leather above the stirrup. An extensive search on the internet, nothing. I'm trying to figure out the maker of this saddle. It's very well made. Its very wide flat bars.

I got a saddle in the shop a few weeks back for cleaning and some repair. The biggest issue I found were the Blevins buckles. Since they are made from aluminun they oxidized quite badly. Have yall ever seen them this bad?

Hello! I have Heiser Saddle No. 85, stamped on the cinch strap keeper. The Heiser /Denver maker stamp on the fenders are barely readable... It has been in my family for over 75 years. When was it built? Thanks for any information you have available.

I have a saddle that I need to let go. I have found no distinguishing stamps on the leather, but it does have a metal plate behind the seat with the name "Tara Reddy" and has relatively new Korsteel 4-1/2" stirrups. Any idea where I might look for better identification? What would be the value of this saddle? I'm trying to find some local barrel racers that are starting out to sell it to and give them a good deal but also not just "give it away".

Hello! I was given this saddle and have since been trying to find out more information on it, but keep coming up empty handed. Not sure if I'm just bad at searching or what It was made my Action Co, Mckinney tx and the numbers on it are 22708.1 and 5 with a 15 below it as shown in the photos. Apologies for the dirt, I just started to clean it up today. Thank you for any additional information on the saddle and also, Hello everyone!

The seller knows nothing about saddles - Inheirited. What year was this carving popular? What type of tree was usually used? And just for fun the approximate retail price the saddle sold for, I am going through my old western horsemen but in 2/3 of the time Tex Tan is advertising belts or stores that carry their saddles

I just bought this saddle. I am happy with the saddle either way, but my preference would be for it to look a bit more even. I've tried searching, but I had trouble finding this specific situation. Lots of people wanting to dye black, I just want mine to be a more even brown color, and I'm not even terribly particular about the shade, somewhere medium-ish, but dark-ish would be okay too. I just started playing around with a bit of leather work, so this is definitely not something I've done before. Is there any dye, stain, or anything that would work to make this look a bit nicer?
