Hi guys, hope you are all having a great Memorial Day Holiday. I need some help on the history of the Billy Cook Saddles. Does anybody know the story around Billy Cook going out of business and selling the design to Simco/Longhorn? I have a Greenville Tx Billy Cook saddle and think it is a great saddle, only to be told by another person that this is actually a Simco saddle not a BC saddle afterall?? Any help on the history of these saddles and the history of Billy Cook? thanks ron

Can anyone provide some history on this saddle. I bought it at a garage sale and really like it. It is a very solid saddle. I will definitely keep it as a backup to my new saddle.

Curious if anyone knows anything about this saddle or maker. The latigo holder says MADE BY JERK STEINER 1952 WYOMING. The seat is harder than a math test, but otherwise the saddle is well made. Thanks, Randy

Can anyone give any info? It looks like at one point the pommel had hair-on. Any way to determine the year? https://www.flickr.com/gp/198323112@N07/om6zd2PL4W

Picked up a saddle for my wide backed horse that is unusual to me. Can anyone identify an old saddle with a brass plaque on cantle 'ropers pride' only other mark number 5166 on fob. Unusual rearing horses on fenders and scattered tooling. Could ropers pride be a horses name plate not the maker?

I have a bronc saddle that has ripped the screws out of tree from the riggin on the right side, as a quick patch on the road we cleaned the holes out, patched it with JB weld and sanded it back flat, this held for about 12 horses and now has ripped back out, does anyone know of a better method to fill holes in a tree?

Hey all, I recently acquired this wade saddle. It seems like the saddle has quite fine craftsmanship but in all my internet searching I cannot turn up any information on this maker or their saddles. I grew up only 45 minutes from Pendleton so it surprised me that I hadn't heard this name before. Any info on history of the maker or potential valuation would be appreciated! The only thing I found online was the article pictured below.

Could one have a back cinch added to this wade? I'm a novice leatherwork enthusiast who's done more small projects, never torn down a saddle or anything, so this seems like something I'd need a professional saddle maker to do. Is such a thing cost prohibitive if possible? Would it devalue the saddle? I think a lot depends on the tree etc.? The gal selling it doesn't know much about the saddle. It is a handmade saddle out of Pendleton, OR. The craftsmanship seems high quality. Any thoughts appreciated!

I have a western saddle made by Rick Mayberry/Sugar Creek Saddlery that has fixed stirrup leathers - one end is mounted in the front, down to the stirrups and then ran up through the tree, where a little bit of the stirrup leathers are held in place by a kind of pin that snugs up against the tree. One of the pins fell out and I am looking to replace it, but I haven't had any luck finding anything like it. I've been using one my of saddle strings to hold my stirrup leathers on my saddle and I would like a more permanent solution, ha ha. Does anyone have any idea on where to look? Or is this something I should look into having made? Thanks in advance
