  1. legal smegal..... For the others, a cracker or what some call a "get back whip" is simply a whip (any length) that is usually attach to the brake lever with a quick release clasp that has some weight to it. It can be used as a weapon though not a very good choice for one... i prefer cap guns so to speak (HOWEVER, NOTHING IS A WEAPON UNTIL IT IS USED AS SUCH), or signify club colors. However, they are called crackers as the general use is for cracking windshields, or side windows, when a vehicle decides to overstep it's bounds (usually intentional). Lug nuts and ball bearings are sometimes carried, however, those only really do the job when being tailgated.
  2. you could look into using those "light box" codes. I've not done so myself as I've strayed away from doing websites.... and most of the web in general... but they seem to be the nicer looking galleries these days, and probably fairly simple to use.
  3. I have two mauls. The small tandy one and the big one. The small one when I got it came with an additional rawhide head.. but I've not switched it out. The handle started to fall apart when I tried... so I figured before I got angry and destroyed stuff (common issue!) I left it alone. Personally I dig the small one, it does all the work for me. I use the big one on rare occasions for say a large stamp, setting snaps etc... I have rawhide mallets but do not use them, there just for looks I suppose (which they were given to me..). I don't tool much at all...so my opinion isn't worth much. But, for what it's worth, "I don't tool much, but when I do I prefer the small tandy maul. Keep tapping my friends"
  4. if i owned a bible id use that as the cover... but they all seem to burst into flames when im near...
  5. why not just delete the thread all together. keeping it open will invite further comments that are not needed. Locking it may give others who run across it a bad impression. It has nothing to do with leather, not helpful in any way to anyone regarding leather, or how to use or navigate the site or anything. Or move it to the about us sections, since technically this thread is a conversation regarding leatherwork.
  6. I don't want to read about your peeves likes or dislikes or what you do or do not want to read about. This is a leather site, I came here to read about leather.
  7. Thinking about making some crackers. Any of you ever make them? NO I do not mean a cracker with cheese, that won't break glass. If you get what Im saying.
  8. were you going to sew it or lace it. I just read up a little further, if you were meaning to lace it then yeah like chancey said, it aint gonna work out well. You can find rotory hole punches everywere online and some hardware stores carry them.
  9. 1947 I shouldn't have to say anthing more. Don't see many of these around!
  10. yeah if he's 6'6" I'd have to look up to him... and that's rare. I'd rather see that with some cool apes though. you know what they say about loud pipes?...... pissed neighbors.
  11. man, i got a bad ass pic im gonna post here when i get the chance to get it off my phone. Just got back from a mandatory and spent nearly 7 hrs on the sporty average 80+ mph...(about the same to get there yesterday..) im a bit beat up at the moment. major racoon face going on... lol. Anyhow, the issue was the mounted bracket on the front i had forgotton to cut it shorter before welding it.., i modified it fri night before i left out sat morning and it sits fine now. Dropping the front letting the bend come up more. I didn't put an extreme bend on the back as i wanted it to flow with the frame. Since i had decided i wasn't going to hard tail the sportster... and since i think a swing arm bike looks silly with a seat on springs...those where my main reasons for my deciding on the bend. But, all is good now and it's got more bend than what the pics show. and no i didn't do this trip on the new seat... that would have been a BAD idea. I may have rambled a bit... im going on 2 hrs sleep and that ride and heat has got me all wound the f down.
  12. i made a diamond style awl out of a nail. may not be perfect, but it will stick through whatever i put it to. I have drilled holes as well, if using thick thread, which is how i did my solo back and worked just fine.
  13. That thing between my bars... keeps my license in my wallet.... barelly!! It's a hard thing to do when a bike craves high rpm's. That's the biggest drawback with it... you can't just put around if you wanted too. Don't get me wrong, it ain't no crotch rocket but it will eat a twin cam 96 up. The back was last minute. Wasn't gonna do anything with it. But it felt like a waste to not do something and gain a bit more practice and just smack sh!t to some old german thrash. The corbin seat will still be my main seat. The only reason I speak of covering it is due to the the stitches coming out and tearing. The hump helps keep you planted on those moments of hard acceleration..which I took for granted before riding with this solo I attempted.
  14. Don't know about no adult sections. But there are some tooled tots on here. I'd point them out but I ain't no snitch. lol
  15. Some have seen it, just thought I'd post it here.... first seat. It sits a little differently than in the pics. Had to modify the way it mounted so I would fly off the back like I was doing yesterday... heads and cams...cams and heads... Probably do this one sometime.. Chancey, this is the other shovel I think I mentioned.. 76 I believe. The most menancing sounding shovel I have EVER heard. I need it, with some 18" apes with a low seat... yeah!
  16. The colors are even more fitting knowing the name of the club. You would certainly do a double take it you saw it going down the road, for the colors alone. I do agree the abstract or at least psychodelic stuff has gotten pretty popular, at least online with paint jobs and such. It's a little refreshing. I've found myself getting into the art nouveau stuff.. thinking of doing my tank in that style.... Im done with flat black...black everything....
  17. I can dig it, my favorite part is... that it doesn't have 20 ft over forks...
  18. Thanks! Not perfect, but my 1st one so learned a few things (like how hard it is to do something subtle...the "devils" face was supposed to be very human, non demonic aside from horns, ...that went out the window!) I had to do it on the cheap side.. it's going on my bike... Im a touch broke lol...So it may hold up, may not as well. Im a year rounder all weather... haven't owned a car since '05. So, I guess this will be a true test. But I finished it with resolene and kiwi nuetral shoe polish in the shop in 90 something degree weather... so Im sure it soaked in real good... I was soaked anyway... for the coloring.. I just left it alone for a week or so and didn't think about... then just loaded up the airbrush and did whatever till it looked like something.... seems to work best for me with everything I do... no plans... just go for it.
  19. Stuff Im working on.
  20. cool. Been thinking about making a new/better one for myself. no lacing though...I enjoy the whole saddle stitch deal so much more than lace. Speaking of lace, what do you use?
  21. I use packing tape, but on the last two things I did were slightly large and I didn't have any tape. So I used vinyl that is used printing stickers. Works real good, glued nothing to anything...the vinyl didn't let it stretch enough to matter. For casing, just to throw it out there. I stick the tape or vinyl then wet the leather down with a sponge real good, but not over board. Less than an hour I start, works for me. I've tried the other methods and couldn't tell a difference.
  22. I have never used transfers but I do screen print. In a nutshell, the cold peel transfers use plastisol which needs material like a t shirt like material to bond too. Thinking of veg tan leather, the oils in the leather will probably be your enemy here. I don't know, but I would say plastisol may not be the answer here. However, plastisol is a plastic, so maybe coating the leather with acrylic coating may help..... but most if not all brands of plastisol also cure at 320 degrees... which may have a negative result on the leather just thinking off the top of my head. Never thought about it before.... They do make a graphics ink for leather, but again... never used it. Try looking into nazdar, color fx etc. But those inks work different and are solvent baised so they do not require heat. But, you'd have to be willing to put some money into chemicals, screens, a decent press if doing multi color (or you can rig up a simple set up for 1 color), and have a decent understanding of a decent graphics program like photoshop or corol draw, etc.
  23. What the hell is an FHL? Or do they just spell it weird over there lol!
