Cindiy, I wouldn't mind doing a tutorial, but I bought a DVD on how to make feathers and I am afraid if I tried to do that, there would be a patent or copyright infringment I'm not sure and don't wanna end up teaching leathercraft in the "Big House" LOL Karl
-
Thanks Anne. I've never written up a tutorial before and want to do a few more to be sure that I'm doing it decent enough to do a tutorial on one. Actually they are fun to make once you start making them, my problem is blending and mixing the colors for the proper color for the type if bird feather I am trying to depict. Karl

Hello fellas and gals, Here are some more feathers I carved and the little one I think would be the feather off of a "Buffalo Wing." LOL Karl

Cindy, That carving of Pegasus is great. Keep up the great work and I'll have you give me leasons. Karl

Thanks Josh. The wife kinda likes it to, she already has it loaded and ready to go to work Thursday. Karl

Tom, I bought the "How to carve feathers" by Rob Barr from Hide Crafters and a couple of others also. I hope I can make them look a lot more realistic than that one, so lilke I said, Practice, Practice, Practice, and like "Larry tje Cable Guy" and "Git-R-Done," LOL. Karl

Thanks alot. My wife is a bird freek and one of her favorites is the Hummingbird, thats why it's on there. Karl

Thanks for the compliment but it needs a little more work to be the way I want it. I really didn't have the right knives to do the detail work, but the blades are on order, and then practice, practice, practice. Karl

Hi Fellas & Gals, Here is a Day planner that my wife needed and I made from scratch. There is a dark spot on the inside leather liner pocket but will be covered byk the address book. I tried Oxalic Acid but it wouldn't lighten up any and when I dyed it it came out real dark, but it will be covered up. Karl

Hello fellas and gals, Here is a full size Eagle feather I did and is now on my Hat. Karl

Cindy, I honestly would walk away from this one due to the liability factor. It's not worth it Even if you fix it and it last for 3 or 4 years and then breaks somewhere else and by chance someone is injured, they will hold you liable because you were the last one to work on it and in their eyes did a lousy job. Just tell them it would not be worth fixing and they can buy a new one cheaper than what you would have to charge even if the horn is the only thing wrong and no breaks or cracks elsewhere. Karl

Paul, Those are some good looking sheaths. Now all you have to do is go rabbit or deer hunting and get blood all over them to break them in. No! Not Really! They are purdy enouf to wares to churchl, Huh Huh Hun. Keep up the good work and posting. Karl -
Good day fellow leathercrafters, Here is a day planner I designed and made for my wife to use at work. The one she had was kinda ragged so I thought I would make her one. The only thing is the inside leather on the inside has a big dark spot on the leather and I tried to bleach it out but to no avail, and when I finally died it it came out almost black. I was going to make a new piece but my lovely wife said, "Its gonna be covered up with an address book on that side any way so don't worry about it." So---Here it is. Karl

Cindy, I looked at you profile and I sure would like to try the saddle I made last fall on your horse to see how it fit and would look on a horse. Here are a couple of pictures of it. Karl

I love the color you have on it. you can get lot's of help and tips on this site and see lots of good leather carving and braiding so keep up the good work and keep posting. I am glad you like my feather I did. I answered you but anyway I bought the How to carve feathers from Hide Crafters by Rob Barr and it was worth the money, Karl
