  1. Thanks for that.

The guitar strap was a first and I loved doing it. The guest book was for my dad's wedding (I've now been asked for a matching photo album) and the sporran was for my son to wear to the wedding. Have to admit I was really worried about fitting the sporran together - thought it'd be a real pig to do - but in reality it went like a dream and my son loves it!

  2. I started out working for several architects as a draughtsman. Eventually made redundent. I then spent a few years training people to ride motorcycles - again made redundent!

Now I work putting together and supplying weather panels to the newspaper industry - we take the raw data from our tame forecasters and make it look pretty! It's not that exciting, nor is it paid well, but I enjoy it!

  3. Hi everyone

Over the last year or so I've purchased some 'old leatherworking tools'. Some were easy enough to identify, even with my limited knowledge, others not so. Does anyone know what any of these are and what they were used for? Even one or two would be a help. Was I sold a bum lot with these particular tools?

    Cheers

    Dave

  4. Hi I'm Dave and I live in the UK

I got into working with leather a few years ago when we were reenacting - new job and lack of money put that on hold though. It was nothing special, just a few pouches, bags and a quiver for my son - and all very plain.

Earlier this year I purchased a basic tooling kit and from the start I was hooked.

I found this site after a google search and already have learnt some things, just from looking around. I'm really looking forward to picking your brains as I want to learn more.

My daughter wants a guitar strap and a friend wants a cigarette packet holder - complete with skull and crossed bones on, so I have plenty to keep me going for now.

I can see so many possiblities...... :Lighten:
