I'm looking to find someone who can make a "dummy" for a Police hand held radio to be used for form fitting. Anybody know any custom dummy makers? -AA

I just happened across a Stimpson 405 setter for $20 and wondered if there were die attachments that will set splash rivets using it? Preferably self piercing? Also if there are dies for loop stapling as well? If so where could I find them? Thanks, Andrew

That's what I'm finding out! No... actually we now use veg-tan for our products made for firefighting and it holds up really well in extremes. We are looking for colored leather that we don't have to paint and that can receive hot foil stamping/debossing. I suppose the next question is what colored leathers are stout and durable enough to handle firefighting extremes? Chrome tanned? And where can I find the selection of colors we are looking for? We really appreciate taking the time to answer our question!

I am looking for help in how to hotfoil stamp leather. Specifically I would like to be able to make words individually. What kind of machine would I need? What kind of letterset? Where can I find good used ones? etc. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks, Andrew

I have an old Herman Schwabe swing arm press, 16 ton or so, and I was wondering if and how often I should change the hydraulic fluid in it, and what kind of hydraulic fluid I should use? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Andrew

How To Use Landis 5 In 1?
Box Alarm Leather replied to Box Alarm Leather's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Thanks Art, I think I'll hold off and save up for the Tippman.. -
I have the opportunity to buy a Landis 5 in 1 at a pretty good price but have some questions about it... If I want it to cut a 1 1/4" strap, is there an adjustment "stop" or anything in the belly that gets it just the right width? Also, I notice some rollers on top of it... are there adapters that will "crease" borders in the strap? or are those rollers for something else. I believe I heard that it will bevel strap edges... if so, how does that work? I would really like for it to easily cut different width straps and to crease borders into the straps and bevel the edges, as that is what I would use it for most... Thanks in advance for any help.

Firefighter Suspenders
Box Alarm Leather replied to RWS6021's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I like leather suspenders because they don't sag when your turnout pants get wet. Very nice... and they'll last forever!!! -Andrew -
These are a couple firefighter helmet shields where the buyer sent artwork of what they wanted to put on their fire helmet front... This is the first time I've ever put my artwork out for review by leatherworking peers! Please be gentle....

Stimpson Riveter Machine?
Box Alarm Leather replied to Box Alarm Leather's topic in Hardware and Accessories
It's yours then. Thank you for the info. PM me and I'll forward the guys info to you and let him know you're interested... -
I posted a picture in the hardward thread of a Stimpson machine that I hope will work with splash rivets. I'm not at all familiar with rivet machines and would like to know if dies/anvils can be switched out on that machine. The gentleman selling it says the current setup was for eyelets. See the picture here http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showforum=11.

Hello all, I found a gentleman who has the attached Stimpson machine for sale ($150) that I would be interested in if it could be used for rivets. He says the machine was an "eyelet" machine and I'm not familiar with machines. We currently handset our "star" or "splash" rivets. Also, with an automatic machine like this, do the holes still need to be punched for the rivets or does the machine punch the hole and set the rivets? Thanks

I am trying to find a brass acorn capped barrell nut, like the attached picture. Also, I don't have a picture, but I am looking for a piece of attachment hardware that has a brass cap and for lack of a better term, two "stalks" that come down from the cap, go through the leather, and then spread apart holding it into place. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to find brass barrell nuts that have an "acorn" cap. (See attached pic). I'm also looking for brass "pins" that would have two "stalks" (for lack of a better term) under the cap that is meant to go through a hole in the leather and then be spread outward to hold in place. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Andrew
