They look great, I love them all. -
I have only been a member here a couple of day but I have found a wealth of information and great group of friendly people. I am hoping to learn Sheridan style carving and I have been checking out some examples and some tutorials and I just couldn't wait, I just had to have a try at a piece. I have been making a hunting knife and thought I would try a Sheridan style sheath. It is my first try and I still have quite a way to go. I need to learn when to bevel and not to, where to vein and not to, and camouflage and everything really. This is what I came up with anyway. This is the pattern I came up with. I used a pattern for a folder front and modified it a little. I was not happy with the top so I altered it on the sheath. This is the knife I made the sheath for. Both sides of the sheath. I know I have a long way to go but this place has been so inspiring already I can't wait to get on with my next piece. I am going to have a practice on some scraps before I start the next one. Thanks to you all. Great site!

Thanks for that, PM sent. Thank you all for the great welcome, I have been looking at the great work, posts and tutorials and have started my first piece of Sheridan carving today. A piece that was too ambitious to be honest but I couldn’t wait. I will post a picture when it's done.

The wood is Turkish Black Walnut, I got it from a gun stock maker. Looks nice on everything I tried it on. Thanks for the welcome chaps.

My name is John and I live in Nottinghamshire in the UK. I am a hobbyist knifemaker and have been making my own sheaths for a year or so but I need help to make my sheaths look better. I would like to get into sheridan style carving and I have seen some exquisite examples here so I look forward to learning from you all. My current efforts.
