  1. REALLY? Nobody? Thought you folks dealt with leather everyday....
  2. I pulled the old mans saddle out of storage today. Yikes what a mess! Its a rough out saddle and....no....wait a sec....to be more accurate, its a mold saddle with rough out. Parts are going technicolor. How can I clean it? Thank you!
  3. Does anyone on this forum have any experience with Sharon Saare Saddles? I am interested in feed back on fit, quality, general opinions. Thanks
  4. Yeah, I think we can nix the 2nd option. Just so I'm clear on the first option .... is it necessary to wear them in a warm bath or is soaking them in a tub of warm water sufficient? What is the point of the plastic bags? wouldn't they just make your feet sweat? Sorry, kinda clueless here.
  5. I believe that saddle has Chinese origins. Here is a link you may find useful http://www.chinesedi...america-saddle/
  6. Hi Kevin Thanks for your reply. I don't know if it matters but they have a pebble finish on the outside and they are completely lined on the inside all the way from the shaft to the toe. Leather sole and heel too. I don't have Bic - 4, but I have Dr. Jackson's hide rejuvenater and plain old lexol. Does it matter which I use?
  7. I received a gorgeous pair of Frye boots for my birthday. Love em to death, but I have trouble with getting boots to fit me through the instep. They are great everywhere else and just about the prettiest boots I have ever laid eyes on. Can someone offer me suggestions on how to break them in and get them to stretch a bit across the instep?
  8. Yeah, I was thinking more along the Plantation saddle lines, but I'm just not sure. We have sold plenty of used saddles over the years but never seen one like this. Its clear to me that its a custom saddle from somewhere but what puzzles me is what custom saddler would take all the time to craft a work of art and not put their name on it somewhere? Every custom saddle (and even not custom ie Billy Cook, Circle Y etc) has makers marks. Its a well made conundrum.
  9. Really? No thoughts? Anybody? It weighs about 35lbs. Has sheep wool underpanels a rawhide wrapped tree and is probably over 25 years old. Its also a dream to ride. I would love to know more about it. . .
  10. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks
  11. Hey CountryErythGal! Its, me Bo. I see you made it. Welcome to the forum.

  12. Update: It just got delivered today. Its nicer than the photo. It was a good buy. I'm happy.
  13. Thank you for sharing that story. I still haven't found out anything about the maker, but the story gave me an idea to write to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum to see if they had any leads. Thanks guys.
  14. Thanks Jeff. That is not the same saddle. Sorry I couldn't get the photo to post correctly. Instead, here is the link from eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/...E:X:AAQ:US:1123
  15. I bought it on eBay. R&Rsaddle.htm This is the description from the seller: 15 inch R & R Endurance saddle. It has a fiberglass tree. New back rigging on one side. Quick change buckles. The fleece underside is beautiful. The saddle is like brand new, and looks to have not been ridden. Has been professionally cleaned and oiled and is ready to ride. I believe it has semi QH bars. I tried it on my Arabian and it was just a tad too narrow in the withers. This is a nice saddle and not one of the new ones made out of inferior materials. Actually I don’t think there is a scratch on the saddle anywhere! The saddle weights 26. 3 lbs with the cinch attached, and the stirrups on it. R&Rsaddle.htm R&Rsaddle.htm
  16. I went to the website too and the logo is a R on a rocker shaped like the bottom of a rocking chair. This logo is 2 R's back to back, so I am still confused.
  17. Does anyone know what is the difference between Rocking R and R & R saddlery? Is R & R the condensed version or are they 2 completely different makers? Thanks for any help!
  18. - who'd a thought. Talk about buyers remorse! :brainbleach:
  19. I like you. You're funny!

  20. Hi - I have been reading the posts and notice that no one had offered any reply so here goes... I have never seen a saddle like that before and have no idea who made it. Amish? possibly. American made, possibly. South American made, probably. I see it has aluminum dees which would put it older than the 10 years old that the seller claims it is (I searched for it on ebay and found the listing) I read where another person asked if it was a Paso saddle and they denied that it was....however, we have a boarder with a paso and her south american made saddle also has felt panels, so I have to wonder about that. As far as roping, I sure wouldn't try it. Just my 2 cents and I could be way off base.
  21. Thanks for the link. There is a lot of information there and now I am really confused. I looked under the jockey and there is a # 6938 83. Can anyone tell me what that means? Is this an original or a longhorn spin off? Thank you.!
  22. I just picked up a Billy Cook Saddle at auction for $450. Can someone explain to me how to tell how old it is? The # on the latigo holder is 3877. It has a rawhide covered tree and good sheepskin fleece. The tooling is a well done oak leaf with acorn pattern. It has a tooled rear cinch to match. Its marked "Billy Cook Greenville Tx". I know there is more than 1 Billy Cook, so who is who? Thanks for any insight.
  23. Hello there. Thanks for reading my post. Any help you can offer is appreciated. Thanks

  24. Howdy Folks! I was hoping someone could explain how to hang Field Trial / Trooper stirrup leathers. They are like reversed English leathers, but the buckle configuration hangs down by the stirrup and the excess leather gets run up and held with keepers. Can anyone explain this to me....or better yet post photos of how to do this? Thanks!
