  1. From the album: Miscellaneous

Why not to store liquids in glass bottles. or Why not to leave full glass bottles in unheated workshop over winter. Luckily I found this before it completely thawed, hate to think of the mess I would have had to clean up if I hadn't.

  7. dye coming off onto hands and clothes, have added query to post 'Little advice'

  8. Hi Chevvy64, I'm looking for similar info having also read through the forum posts and finding myself confused. This forum is so good and has helped me so much, in this instance I'm overwhelmed by the options, hence the confusion. I have made a backpack/brief case for a friend who requested it be blue. Following research I 1 deglased 2 dyed 3 rubbed off excess 4 coated with carnuba cream 5 rubbed off excess 6 oiled There is still dye rubbing off. Is it as simple as not having rubbed off all the excess? Seems a lot of excess. Read elsewhere on line that vineger will 'set' a dye, has anyone tried this? Thanks for any help.
  9. sold my first leather item today, big smiles

  10. Thank you Cece, I'm glad you like it. I made it as a practice run for a bag a friend of a friend wants made. It's to his specs and almost ridiculously big but ideal for me to pack a travelling leatherwork kit in for the future I used a discounted Black Waxy leather I bought online with out really knowing what to expect. It has quite a thick finish on it which makes the leather look a bit plastic-y and proved quite tough to stitch. However the up side is that it will definitely keep any water out and meant I didn't have to add any supporting material to the large sides. I'm curios to see how it ages. When I've got some time I'll add some more picks. Cheers
