About Me
Overall I'm interested in Singer Machines, dating back to the late 19th Century Treadles, up to and including the mid-1950's machines... Reciently began restoring a "Working Collection" and teaching myself to both service and repair machines as well as "Sew" with them. My hope is to learn to handle Leather & Canvas repairs to my long suffering Camping Gear.... I'm a long time "Hand Sewing & Repair" type person, that did my repair work as needed... and taught by the best teacher a kid could have, my Grandmother... while spending summers out West as a youth... I'm reciently retired due to circumstances beyond my control... & making the best of it.
I'm a "retired" Bicycle Mechanic with 25 + years at the Stand, among other things... so tinkering with machines is not unknown to me. Although sewing machines are a new challange... but they have proven quite interesting and enjoyable to work on.
I'm currently in the process of picking up a Singer 29-4, to add to my collection of Treadles... and other Iron on The Bench... So I'm here to pick the brains of those more knowledgable than I, which is doubtless many out there.... More to follow, Thanks- John
