One of my other hobbies is woodwork and it is great to combine the two of them. Again the use of wallet craftaids makes the job easier.

Being ex-Navy I like scenes about the sea. This craftaid is one of the first i ever purchased many many years ago.

Just a sample of what the scraps can be used for. Stocking fillers? Whatever?

In 1980 this handbag was awarded a First Prize (Standard of Excellence) and a Special Prize (Most distinctive handbag - Standard of Excellence) at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. I call it my "Brag bag"

Chose basket weave on the back cover because of the wear and tear that would happen to a fully carved design

I made this cover using wet leather moulded over a wooden plug. I have a small marble stone that fits inside so when it was dry I could carry on and bevel and stamp without distorting the leather.

This hip quiver is one that I have modified and uses a wallet craftaid for decoration. The acorn leaves match the belt.

  20. G'Day maculata, nice to meet another Aussie on the site. Where do you get your roo skins? I have been getting my carving leather from Birdsall's for over 20 years but would like to try other suppliers for variety. Its a bit nippy here on the Central Coast - must be freezing on the Manning River. Regards, BJ

  21. Nice looking quivers Jacko. I have been asked to make a couple of quivers for the longbow shooters in our club, one of them is keen on the Al Stolhman designed fully carved Quiver & armguard (craftaid 3089). What thickness leather are you using? Regards, BJ
  22. Thanks for the link to the Norseman Bows site. I am the recorder at the Erina Archery Club and one of our members recently came 3rd in the Australian Bowyers competition. He makes an excellent LongBow and has a few members giving up recurve and compound to shoot longbow. His name is Tony Mahony and he is also a leatherworker.. We have made a few wrist guards and quivers between the two of us. I have just finished a belt quiver from one of the Tandy pattern packs. (this afternoon) I will post it on my album tomorrow with photos of my own gear. By the way, the bowyer from Norseman Bows is not familiar to me and i haven't seen him at our club.I notice his catalogue is dated 2009. regards, BJ
