  1. so the handle dictates the depth of the blade right ...i hav e access to a machine shop so i can fabricate some type of lock...i never have used one so i was trying to figure out splitting class 101 for newbies lol with little modifactions i will have it locking ..... but for now ....so just put the leather in ..pull handle to required depth then just pull leather for a even split ? and if i am trimming a belt tip just pull a little harder to skive and then cut it for the fold ???
  2. i pick this up at a garage sale ....im new to leather , but think its a splitter , i have never use one before but understand the general operation (i think)but im not sure on the proper way of using it ....i think you set the blade depth and pull it thru ....but on this one it has a handle that rotates ....does anyone no a link on this site or a web page ....r some one can give me a quick rundown on basic operating procedure on the use of this contraption lol ....thank u in advance

  8. i made a guitar strap and after a couple of weeks of abuse the sealer that i put on is peeling of ...very bad....i used resolene to seal it and i used a air brush to applly it(was that why) also i sprayed it on a stap made of veg tan leather and i textured it with a standered texture stamp....so any ideas why its peeling off....is it because i airbrushed ...textured it ...i hate to make something sell it and the sealer flake off ....thats embarrasing ....so what do yall think i need to do to apply a sealer and it stay on
  9. hi everybody ....i have a quick question i bought a tandy medal draw gauge (the one that looks like a osborne handle and blade) i have been using it to cut small staps with no problem but i needed to cut a 3 inch wide stap ....let me tell u i strugled but was able to cut..... it but its not straight....i watch some videos out there and they are cutting big (wide) straps using those wooden ones that sandwich the leather in ..........IS this a better cutter or in time my skill set with the medal gauge will increase with practice or is the wooden one a better cutter
