  1. Beautiful, something to really aspire to.
  2. I think he's asking if it's the thickness divided by 2 and if it comes out to say half an inch is that the distance away from the template on both sides. I think that's what he's asking anyway.
  3. Bad pic I know, The final coating is 50/50 future floor polish and water. I think I'm going to add more water to the mix because it really came out very shiny.
  4. Latest holster for a full sized springfiel;d XDM 40 cal, hope you like.
  5. Anyone try out or heard of The Thread Exchange? www.thethreadexchange.com. Seems to have some good prices.
  6. Hey all, just got my stitching pony today. A customer's father is a woodworker and made me one from black walnut. I'll have to post some pics. He made it using the wildrose demensions and then did what he thought would work better. All he wants is a holster for a k frame smith 3", I said, deal.
  7. Hey, if you have two:"I'll take it and Rayban you're the coolest guy on this forum, I don't care what the others say"
  8. NoahL, I'll see what happens. Lobo, thanks for the stats, but I'm curious the strand thickness of those various sizes are how thick? The inner strands of the paracord are mighty thin, and I don't know the exact dimensions (that is way to precise for me), but like I said I'm going to try it in a camping sheath I make. I do agree it's for small use only, unless your some military quarter master with ample supply.
  9. Hey everyone, has anyone tried using the inner strands of paracord for stitching, tensile strength is 50lbs, only color is white as far as I know, and would you need that type of strength? I'm going to use it on some knife sheaths for a camping setup I make.
  10. Great job, I really like the wallet holster, a buddy has a amt 45 that would work good on.
  11. Thanks everyone, looks like a few people out there need the help.
  12. Thanks, so you only stiffen the inside strap, nothing on the outside strap. I want to prevent the outside strap from flopping around if I can or should.
  13. Hey all, I have a guy that wants me to put a thumb strap on a holster. I have only made open top holsters. I can figure out how to make the straps, my question is what if any inserts would be need for stiffness and retention.
  14. Well I think it looks great and he loved it too, I'll be giving it a try after the holidays.
  15. Looks Great, A friend just asked me to make a rig just like that, do you have a pattern or a link to one?
  16. Ok, good suggestions. Now when do you apply the sheen product? Before wetting and moulding, before you dye, before you sew together. Also here are pics of my newest holster for the same weapon.
  17. Another question. I have 8-9 oz veg tanned leather and I want to get the flesh side smooth. My question is what do other people use. I am using a battery operated lint remover, which I have to buy the wife a new one. It works very well and makes the flesh side very smooth, not baby skin smooth but nothing like it was. How about you all, what do you do.
  18. thanks I will give it a try Here's a poor pic
  19. Hello , all and I hope everyone one had a good holiday. My question is in reference to wet moulding on the holster. When I wet formed on my larger automatic the detail came out bold and well highlighted (IMO), I was trying do accomplish the same thing on a much smaller weapon. My weapon is a Bersa .45 Ultra Compact. The other weapon is a SigP230, I can get good detail around trigger guard, chamber indent. The problem I have is that the slide on the Sig is so fine machined I can't get the indent to get a straight line. I'll have to send pics unless someone can figure out what I mean.
  20. Thanks, That was my first and I jumped alot of steps, but I wanted to see If I could. I am finishing another holster for a co-worker and I have been much more careful, reading more and just taking my time. The holster is for a Sig P230, I'll post and you all help me with critique. I work for a local Sheriff's Office in the Corrections side so I should get some business.
  21. Thanks for the response, actually I am able to grasp the grip perfectly, and I have large hands, I can palm a basketball. Not only is that my first holster but my first posted pics, so I have alot to learn about both.
  22. Hello everyone, new guy here and I guess I posted my first pics in the wrong place. Well anyway, here I am. Please tell me what you think and be honest, I have made a few knife sheaths as well and will post them later. The Leather I used is 8-9 oz veg tanned. The weapon is a Bersa Thunder 45 Ultra compact, and it's a mean little sucker. Well nice to be here and thanks for looking. By the way I'm from southern PA if anyone lives around Hanover, Gettysburg area give a shout.
  23. These are pictures of my first holster, I designed the pattern and this is my first holster attempt. Any comments welcome.
