I do do not have a retail license, so I can't order from the Weaver catalog. Or can I ? I'm looking for the style buckle in the Weaver catalog refered to as " Paul's Buckle". Here is a link to the page. They are the last buckles on page# 15 in nickle and brass. Catalog number is 400. http://www.leathersupply.com/downloads/catalog/BeltBlanks&Buckles.pdf Is there another vendor who sells this style buckle? I apologize for having to follow the link, I could not get the pics to paste here. Thanks!

I have been wondering the same thing. I own a cowboy rig by Kirkpatrick leather that has kydex sandwiched between two layers of leather. I cant imagine a heat gun was used to soften the Kydex after the layers were sewn. I would thing the heat would scorch the leather. Only thing I could think is it was dipped in nearly boiling water prior to forming. I'm interested as well to see if anyone knows the process.

What's the best way to prepare a straight edge before using the strap cutter? I saw the tutorial in this forum using the box cutter. I have tried a few practice cuts on scrap with a small ruler and an exacto knife. Although I get a straight line, the cut is not exactly vertical from top cut to bottom cut. What am I doing wrong, or is the exacto not the preffered cutter of choice?

I am in the planning stages of building a Cowboy rig. I'm going to need 4 weights of leather including the lining to build it as I want. I don't need a whole side for each weight, so I've been looking for a vendor who sells nice double shoulders. One of the sponsors of this site has caught my attention with their wholesale membership. With what I need to purchase, I would think that the $30 would pay for itself immediatly. The vendor is Springfield leather. Any comments on them good or bad? Only problem with their site is their is no way to see what wholesale actually is, I guess unless you first purchase the membership. I'm the kinda person who kinda needs to know first, If you know what I mean. Anyone have insight on this? The site says anywhere between 10 to 20%. Again, is it 10% or is it 20%? Lastly, Does Wickett sell shoulders? Sure can't find mention on their site. Thanks!

Looking To Get The Correct Machine " The First Time "

I have been recently and truley blessed to be given intruction over the past several months from a true genious in leather working, Sam Andrews from Andrews Custom Leather in Alachua FL. Not a shameless plug on my part, I am truely grateful for his patience and willingness to pass on his knowledge. I have been able to make several concealment holsters and cowboy rigs over the last several months under his watchful eye and all have turned out way beyond my expectation. I have been able to aquire most all of the basic tools of the trade with the exception of a stitcher. I have been doing alot of practice hand stitching some smaller items at home. I just feel I need to pay those dues. Mr. Andrews uses a Landis 16 in his shop which is a beast. Although I'd love to have one, as the thing could sew through a railroad tie, it's just not in the budget. I've done hours of searching around on the internet until my head spins and want to make a " One time puchase ", if there's such a thing. My interest at this time are leaning more toward the cowboy rigs at this time as I shoot cowboy action on a weekly basis. That being said, I'm looking for a machine that will sew a stout welt, around 3/4 inch, on down to belt weight leather. I'm sure I may want to get into concealment holsters as well at some point. I'd like to try and keep this purchase as close to the $1500 dollar range as possible, give or take a few if need be. I realize this has been asked a million times over, but any and all recomendations would be appreciated. Thanks, John
