  1. I am on Etsy, and get pretty good traffc from it. I am not on Artfire. How do the sales and traffic compare?

I haven't been on Artfire as long but I am finding that it is a good place to fiddle around with pictures, keywords and titles. You can post them multiple times and there is no charge since the cost for your shop is $10/month. The shop stats are not as specific as Etsy's but it is easier for people to buy because they don't have to create an account. They just hit the add button and put in their info. Traffic on Artfire for me is more because I just learned about relevancy and SEO stuff and put it into practice there before I did at Etsy. However, sales are nil right now at both places. thumbsdown.gif

  2. I got my tax ID number the other day and am raring to use it. I was going to order from Springfield Leather and it said they do wholesale but I can't figure out how to do it. It is probably something obvious I am overlooking but it read to me like I didnt have to pay a fee to get wholesale prices. I don't see anywhere in my account or checkout to put in my tax id number sooo.... helpsmilie.gif

  4. The current trademark for "Live Long and Prosper" is owned by CBS Studios, Inc., issued 8-19-2010. So, you would be in technical violation of the trademark if you make and sell the image.

*Note: I'm not a lawyer.* We had a long discussion about copyright infringement here on this forum, and IIRC, you can make and use anything for personal use, but can not sell those items without violating the copyright. I think the same would apply to a trademark, but if you need authoritative advice, ask a lawyer. You could also write to CBS Studios, Inc. and ask permission to use the logo (good luck with that).

Thank you TwinOaks for finding that. I did try a google search google0dw.gif and didn't have any luck. Is there a website that is a good one for that sort of thing?

  5. Hi all,

I have a specific piece of leatherwork I am working on and would like your input. I am a Star Trek fan and would like to sell this piece I am making but I don't want to do something wrong either. It is a picture of a hand with the phrase "Live long and prosper" Spock. I drew the hand myself but am just not sure about the infringement issues. Thanks for any light you can shine on the subject whatdoyouthink.gif
