just wanted to say i finally dyed my own. Cake!
-
i guess i was figured that either way you braided it you were getting the same result. the link that was posted in his photos they look the same in the end but that could be because it was all one color. Not sure. I'm about halfway done with the second lead in brown, bronze and gold. I'll post photos side by side later tonight I'll have them both 100% complete. very big difference in the appearance of quality IMO between the two
-
so i started another with the "easy" method... while much quicker and easier on my hands. Im not happy with the pattern it makes. I"ll post a picture later of the two side by side.
-
Thanks Rick! Apparently i was doing the "hard way" no wonder my hands are dying and it took me so long!
-
your awesome. I really appreciate it tracy do you have a website? are you still braiding leads? what do you use for your core?
-
I braid with a core but I still get just the slightest give. Id however love some help!

Tracy. It is the top outside strand under all to the otherside... over the strand second down.. than under the 3rd strand down.. make sense? lol. Found the video on youtube how to do it and it was easy enough... what other pattern is there? also another thing to note.. i prestretch my lace condition and bevel... When i do four strand braids (with beads.. braided under the beads) i always get a little bit of stretch.. i tried to pull this thing with all of my might.. not even the SLIGHTEST stretch.. the lead is for a 200 lb great dane.. took me like 5 hours to do a 20 inch long lead and the backbraiding was a PITA. im going to try skiving the bakcbraided part a bit when i do the collar
-
I have made hundreds of 4 strand roo leads. This was my first 6 sLtrand.. and let me tell you.. it took WAY longer than I expected.... like 5+ hours and I had the technique down fairly well. My hands are killing me anyone else have this big of an issue???

Thanks! really appreciate it. I'm only going to be doign 1" size for now as i have boxers and most of my current clients do also.

The amount of tools is very confusing! Basically i'm looking to do this: Make leather dog collars with a soft leather lining.... with and without conchos.. rhinestones etc. So i seem to of figured out what I need to set rivets and conchos. My question is on the stitching and hole punching end? what are my basic needs? I'll most likely be getting almost everything from Springfield leather supply.. Can anyone help me out? ive seen that it appears i need the actual stitcher (needle one a hand tool) plus punches for the holes... found one that appears to do 5 at a time... and what about punching my holes in the end for the buckle to attach in? Thanks in advance for all the help. There is a great bunch of people on here with a lot of knowledge.

dying it was my next step. I just buy precut lace its easiest for me. I do have natural and can probably just learn to dye what I need. I just dont know how or what type of dye to use.. I spent a whole day researching it and never got a clear answer... Seems a lot of different types of dyes will work.. any insight?

Saw Something Very Disturbing
RooLeadGirl replied to BIGGUNDOCTOR's topic in All About Us and Off Topic
im pretty sure ive once seen the video you are talking about.. with the pile of animals still blinking its terrible. You should watch the documentary called "the cove" about the dolphin slayings they do in china also. so very sad. I do know when they kill dogs for meals that they dislocate their shoulders and tie their legs behind their bakc.. and put tin cans on their mouths so they cannot bite... when someone wants to buy one for a meal they burn the hair off while they are alive as they think the meat tastes better if the animal has adrenaline in its system before it dies. Such a sad state of affairs. I dont care about anyone eating any animal if it is killed and treated HUMANELY before its death. disgusting -
I'm from Ohio. We moved out here 2 years ago. I must say these crazy Utard (we say that too) mormons are rediculous about drinking! bar here closes at 12:30.. who does that!!!! beer is 3.2.. all shots are measured.. no more than one shot per drink etc etc. You can get regular liquor from the liquor store. Actually not a very well known fact because you have to ask.. but when you get up to the counter you can ask and purchase everclear... 4.99 a bottle here. Thats usually what we buy. When you go to the resturaunt they wont allow you to get a drink unless you order food. just crazy stuff! if you have a friday night or sat. night free. head down to mesquite to eureka.. best seafood buffet.. ever

Jelly here is actually preserves.. Grape, Strawberry, raspberry etc.. http://media-files.gather.com/images/d269/d692/d744/d224/d96/f3/full.jpg You can also get "goobers" hehe which is jelly and peanut butter already mixed up! http://doncrowson.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Downtown-WFSU-Pledge-Drive_Mar202010_0474.jpg as far as the Jelly you are talking about we call it Jell-O.. something we like to do in the US is make Jello shots... you make up the jello with vodka and put shots in small plastic cups and than take them later after they set. yummm!!!! http://happylotus.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/jello1.jpg we still have condensed and evaporated milk... People here drive rediculously large vehicles lifted up so high that you have to use a step ladder to get in. We do have amish and they go around town with their horse and buggies.. Depending on where you live in the country you will have a different "accent".. and regionally different words are used.. (like soda and pop) I grew up and it was called pop.. unless it was orange.. than it was orange soda. no idea why. i am jealous of the accents in teh UK! I want one lol. I dont know if anyone has seen the "charlie bit my finger" youtube video, but apparently its in the top five.. if two american kids were doing that... it would of never gotten 10 views. But because that cute little boy has such an adorable accent he skyrocketed to stardom!

Just Collars...dog Collars
RooLeadGirl replied to buffalobill plus Ed D's topic in Collars, Cuffs, Leashes and Leads
LOVE! the mini D rings. Looks good! Ive wanted to get a collar for mine for a while but i've never found one that is exactly what I'm looking for.. My main problem with the leahter collars is that they seem very stiff and not soft at all. Especially on the inside. -

RooLeadGirl replied to buffalobill plus Ed D's topic in Collars, Cuffs, Leashes and Leads
beautiful!!! my favorite is the first one. .. I too as a 7 dog owner however am not a fan of the leash attachment. D rings work best for me. my other concern is on the ones with the "towel holder" sorry thats all i could think to call it.... where do you put the dog tags? I know this is a decorative type collar but I am always sure to switch my dogs ID tags with every collar you never know what might happen! -
Just wanted to say hello! I've been braiding Kangaroo lace dog leads now for almost two years. I've made at this point over 300 leads. whew. my hands hurt thinking about it. Here is a picture of a recent one!
