  1. Thas is kind of what I am leanning to, I want to do a stock set of bags and do custome work also. Thanks again to every body Bert
  2. Well I have finally got them done, with the eceptions of a few rivets to do still yet and finish the belt but I will have that done today, but I have to say for my fist time working with leather and useing a sewing machine I think they look pretty good, to the point I have 3 orders for some. I made the bags from 5/6 oz oil tanned leather, and on all the bags I was able to form what I like to call a bellie to them to give more room ant the bottom of the bag rather than to do just a fold and sew the hems. This took some time and thinking to get it to come together but I hope I will be a selling point for me. So let me know what yall think. Thanks Bert
  3. I am looking to brand a logo into some leather, is their anything I should be concerned with when I do this? The leather I am useing is 5/6 oz oin taned that is a dark brown and branding is the only way I know to put my logo on. Thanks Bert

  5. I was showing a guy at work the progress on my tool bags today and he would like me to sew him up some now, he said he had a side of oil tanned leather and wanted to know it this would be a durabe leather for his bags. Since I am new to this I thought I would get the oppions of the experts on hear, so any advice would be of great help. Thanks Bert
  6. Ok, so I seem to be doing ok with my project on my carpenters tool bags and I will be needing to do some rivet work soon but there are so may types , what it the most durable type to use. I was told to shy away from the rapid rivets as the were not that durable so now I am left with either solid or tubular what should I use? Thanks for all the help Bert

  9. Ok So I have started my carpenter’s bags and I have to say what I have done so far looks good to me, and I am having fun doing it, I might even see about doing a few of these on the side if I can make any money at it. But now for my question I am using waxed linen and my knots don’t seem to hold that well. I have been back stitching then tying a square knot but it is not hold tight. So if you gals and guys could tell me what I am doing wrong it would be of great help. Thanks Bert Pics to follow soon
  10. Could you guys give me a idea of what would be the best leather for some carpenters bags? Thanks
  11. Let me start off by saying I am new to this and don’t really have any idea on what I am doing. I am going to make my own carpenters bags because I can not find one to suit my needs, I had a bunch of 6oz latigo scraps that I plan on using and I have a good idea of what want in my bags. Now here were I get lost, I can hand sew, but I have never done any on leather. I have no idea on needle size or thread size. Another place I am lost on is I want my bag bottoms to wide I would say 2â€Â, everything I see from other companies they just fold the leather and sew it. So for now that’s were I will leave it rather than to ask a ton of question right off the bat, so any help, advice would be of great help. Thanks Bert
