I haven't yet, but I didn't just 'dip-it' in beeswax. I soaked it.

I'd use straight Beeswax.
I have an EDC knife that I carry literally on my belt every day, I made a wet-molded and beeswaxed sheath for it 8 years ago. It's doing just fine!

$30 dollar cap! That's for a finished gift. Yours will be at least $130 (maybe $330) finished. Maybe it will be well worth the advertising and experience. Should video whoever opens it and see their expression for a $30 dollar gift! Will they know ahead of time you are doing a leather project?
