  1. Hello again everybody! I've come straight to the source because you guys have never let me down. I've been planning on making quivers for archery, and I ran into a problem that I didn't quite see coming. I didn't anticipate th difficulties of trying to sew long stitch lines down the side of the quivers. I googled for this, but all I really found were either the lacing method or ones sewn on sewing machines. How is this possible? I wanted to make one similar to this (Image from Rasherquivers): How can you machine sew that long stitch down the center like that? I must be missing something. Experts, please chime in! Thanks!
  2. Great replies guys! Thanks a bunch. I'm gonna take a look at the blue gun option first. Then I'll give it a shot with the wood blocks.
  3. Very sorry I didn't reply right away! I used 4-5oz leather for this. The glue held strong enough, but I added the stitching as a decorative measure.
  4. Hello again all! I had a question and thought this would be the right spot for it. If not, mods please move it. My question is, how do you form a holster when the customer isn't able to provide the weapon? Such as a long distance order? I learned from the Al Stohlman books how to make wood patterns for certain items, but how would you do it for a handgun? My first thought was to use airsoft versions, but from experience, thoughs aren't always 1:1 scale. My second thought was prop handguns or rubber dummies, like the kind used in movies and television. But a quick search on ebay proved that to be a little expensive, and if you were looking for a rare handgun, there may not be a dummy version. So how do you guys do it? Is there a place to buy such things?
  5. Looks pretty awesome to me!
  6. I'm using Brittish Tan color to make some pouches and every time I overlap a line of dye, it becomes a super dark, completely obvious line where the strokes touched. I've heard that mixing Fiebings dye with water will help retard the super fast dry time that causes the strokes to not blend. Any truth to this? Fiebings is the only brand I've had this problem with and I think it's because it is alcohol based, not water based so it dries quicker.
  7. Sure no problem! I am still looking. I know of a book that has them, but they cost about $250 and can't find it downloadable anywhere.
  8. Looking to make one and can't find a template ANYWHERE. Only for modern styles. I need a template for a holster like this: Thanks!
  9. Yes I tried that first. You just cut a ring out of leather and then stretch it over something like a marker to stretch the inside hole to match the outside.
  10. Made this for my wife for our 1 year anniversary. It was SUPPOSED to have our wedding date on it, but being a idiot that I am put 2011 instead of 2010. Rookie mistake, but she loves it anyways. I guess we can consider the 2011 as a reminder of when our first year was competed? Idk haha.
