Hi! Here is a pair of ankle moccasins I made for my girlfriend: I used this thick, very soft and very supple full grain leather: I designed the pattern by myself, and every assembling is glued and hanstitched (two needles, with linen thread). I added a piece of stiff (but thin!) suede around the heel, inside the mocs, to prevent this area from crushing down while walking. The size is womens 5.5US (36EUR).

Hi, there! Here is a pair of softsoled tall boots I made in 2001 or 2002 for a young woman who was a friend of mine: Sorry, I don't have better pics to show details!.. At this time I didn't have a digital camera. I designed these boots by myself, using such a pair of french slippers: The upper part is made of a kind of very thin felt and the sole is made of padded suede. I bought a pair on this girl's size (womens 5US, or 36EUR). I dismantled a slipper to draw patterns from the upper part and from the sole. I designed the leg by myself. Before I start to make the boots, I have drawn these patterns: I cut every part out of this thick and very soft and supple full grain leather: On the picture of patterns, you can see two patterns for the sole: I made it from two layers of leather. To make the assembling onto the foot part easier, I made the inner sole smaller than the main one. By this way, the assembling concerned only two layers of leather. After stitching, the edge of inner sole (on the proper size of the foot) was in contact of stitching. On the picture of pattern, in the bottom part of the pic, you can see the pattern for lace: this part situates at the top of the boot. You can see it on the first picture, above the beadwork. To decorate the boots, I finally made beadwork ornaments with very long fringe (from the same leather). These ornaments are removable, they're just tied on the lace. As for all my leatherwork, everything is handstitched with two needles, by using a linen thread. Et voila!

Hi, there! I'm Phil, from French Guyana. I just registered after I found the forum thanks to google. I'm fond of leatherwork, and 15 years ago I learned the job of saddles and harnesses maker. I had a project to settle, but as not a bank wanted to lend some money I had to give up... But I still enjoy leatherwork! I use what I learned to make softsoled moccasins and boots. I'll post topics about some styles I made. Most oftenly I make mocs or boots from patterns I also designed. I look for new designs, I wish I'll see some here! I apologize for my average english level, I wish you'll can read me without getting a headache!.. ;-) An example of boots I designed and made:

Has anyone here ever made UGG-style boots

Hi! Several years ago I made a pair of UGG-inspired tall boots for my girlfriend. Here are some pics: First, I apologize for the low quality of these pics: at this time I didn't own a digital camera, so I had to scan my paper pics... Well, to make boots that look like UGGs, I first bought a pair of fake UGGs. So, very cheap boots! ;-) I drew marks every inch along the assembling lines. Then, I dismantled a boot by cutting the stitches. I placed the different parts on cardboard, I drew the outlines on the cardboards as well as the marks. I cut out the cardboard patterns and I used them to draw the outlines and marks on sheepskin. Along all the assembling lines I cut out the wool, so it was easy to assemble with glue. Last but not least, I stitched by hand with Campbell's linen thread. This represents a lot of hours stitching, as you can imagine!.. The foot and the leg are made of sheepskin. The sole is made of thin and very soft light gray suede. I added a removable padded sheepskin insole. The total height of the boot is 15 inch (38cm) and the size is womens 6US (37EUR). I made these boots for my girlfriend because she loves UGG boots and she wished she could have a very soft pair, with soft leather sole, to wear at home only.
