    For wallets I think you want something like 3-4 ounce veg tanned. Springfield leather will sell you a smaller, like 5 sq ft. piece. You're also going to want some lining leather like pig or sheep in the 1 ounce range. Straps would be best with latigo or harness leather I think, For bags and such you'd want a 3-4 ounce garment leather. That would be chrome tanned. It's softer.

    Well Leather is measured in 1/64 of inches. 1/64 inch == 1 ounce, basically. So a 1/4 inch screw would be 16/64 or hold 2x 8 ounce pieces together. You might be able to stretch that a bit. So get a few more sizes, that will make you happier, like 1/2" and even 3/4".

    Hello I'm looking for a source for 2 and 3 strand waxed thread to sew the thinner leather. Just asking for reccomendations. I think Tandy has some and there's a store like 20 miles down the road.
