  1. Stitching Pony I made from mostly scrap wood & several hardware pieces, some improvised, that is an indespensable tool for me, especially since I have onset of arthritis in my powerhand! Until I can afford a Tippman machine,it serves me well! The design many may know, it was made based on the drafting & instructions by Al Stohlman in The Art of Hand sewing Leather by Al Stohlman, from Tandy.
  2. Fellow member, 'Leatherman87', Thank you for showing courtesy by informing me that you have already sold the Tippmann Boss machine. And the very best of success with your new upgraded leather stitching machine! ayn
  3. Howdy fellow leatherworker member, Within the next week or so, I shall be seriously shopping for a Tippmann Boss Machine. I am located in northern California. If you have already sold your Tippmann, "congrats!!!" and success on your new upgrade pardner!!! Thank you ayn

    Mocs for my family

Thank you much 'Suicide' for the two thumbs up, regarding the mocs I made for my family! Currently, I have completed construction on a home made Stitching Pony, based on the design made by Al Stohlman (from the Art of Hand Sewing Leather) instruction book. Also just referbished a pair of used shoe lasts, and am looking forward to using them to improve workmanship on future moccasins! Again, thanks!
  5. Hiya Jessica, I hope that my reply shall provide you with realistic and productive results; Tandy leather store has a good selection of Instruction books on "The Art Of Making Leather Cases" series. Originally authored/written by Al and Anne Stohlman. The Art of Making Leather Cases Volume2, might contain the info you need. Some Tandy stores have individual rifle scabbard patterns and some holster patterns available. www.tandyleatherfactory.com . And you might also try e-mailing Tandy .A helpful staff that might assist you further in what your lookinf for specifically. Another resource for tips on holster making and related leathercrafing tips and articles would be the Leathercrafters and Saddlemakers Journal. www.leathercraftersjournal.com The Leathercrafters Journal publishes a quarterly magazine. It also has Want Ads and For Sale ads at the back of the magazine. I wish you the very best of success in your leathercrafting business Jessica! ayn
  6. CarvedOn, Although its likely I am late in commenting on theFishing Wallet, the outcome of your artwork designed, "outstanding detail !!" I do not believe the photo/image did your artwork design justice. I am amazed at the detail you were able to accomplish! Did you 'burn' or echt out the details with a hot iron type tool? Of you did burn/etch out the design with the hot iron tool... PS: Another design of yours that brings back favorite past times! Especially fishin for trout!!! Thats one very fortunate Canadian and one jealous American! Thank you for sharing your artwork design CarvedOn!!!

  9. Greetings, My intro; About 4 years ago I started leathercrafting small leather cases out of necessity. Being disabled and active. I require a more reliable case to secure & insure my tools & devices longevity. I got tired & disappointed in commercially made cases, because I found most of the commercial cases I bought in the past, did not last! All of the leathercraft projects are hand made and hand stitched. Several family & friends have asked me to make leathercraft items, I followed through. Only recently I had been asked to instruct student classes, making small leather cases at a local Tandy Leather store. I enjoyed teaching, as well as learning from my students! I hope to see prior and new students in years to come. In addition to teaching leathercrafting, another major goal of mine is to learn how to make shoeware, boots and orthotic shoes/boots for folks that need a practical & reliable orthotic shoe or boot that can meet their specific needs or demands for their lifestyle. In due time, I hope that I can establish open communication of ideas, meaningful words of encouragement, tips, do's & don'ts, advice etc Being that today is that special day that Christ was born, I shall rejoin my family and close this intro of myself for now. I pray that everyone have joyous, loving, and safe holidays with family and friends (including our non human friends!),... ayn

    My Intro

Happy holidays to you! And thank you for your intro. I can relate to much what you posted. I too like learning, practicing what I learned, then when asked to teach another or others how I made a leathercraft project, I am honored to do so. My satisfaction is seeing leathercraft students pleased with a completed project they made with their own hands, and from scratch! I look forward to teaching another class at some point in 2012, The leathercraft instruction books are an excellent source to guide and or supoort what one may have learned. I always keep them close by! success to you! ayn
