The color of the leather was chestnut. -
this is a common problem with red based dyes. It happens when the dye is applied to thick in an area and viewed under a florescent light source. Try washing with saddle soap right after dyeing it works well for me.

Got a gorgeous pice of english bridle leather in from Wickett and Craig. Took it to the shop to make this new leather bag for my wife. -

3oz leather is hard to edge but maybe a little bee wax you'll work -
Had a costumer ask if I could make a saddle purse so I gave it a whirl. what do you think?

I have a good one too. Try a shoulder holster for a Taurus 44 mag. with an eight inch barrel and four compartment speed loader pouch on the other side. -
I make hunting and tactical knives myself and one thing you can do to put the temper back in a blade if its a high carbon steel is to heat it till its not magnetic any more with a torch or forge and dip it in oil. Its best to know what steel you have some are work, air and water harden too.
