Small adjustments are fine, but not this. I went back and oiled the machine again, and upped the needle to a 250. That seemed to help a lot, but watching the Cobra Class 4 videos they rarely make over a turn difference in tension no matter what they are sewing and that's where I need to get to with this. Thanks for the reply TXAG. Does that mean you are in Texas?

For the life of me, I can not get decent looking stitches out of the machines I have. I have read all the topics here, and even went so far as to ship my Techsew 4100 all the way back to Canada for Mike and Ron to adjust for me. When they sent it back it was great for one material and lining, but anytime I chose to sew something else with a different thread, needle, etc it would never be the same. I have good quality thread so that's not the issue, but especially black seems to be the worst. My machines are the above stated Techsew 4100, and a Bogle import like the Techsew 2700. On the 4100, I am using a #4 braided thread on the top, and 277 in the bobbin sewing with a 7x230 chisel point needle. And this is through 2 layers of 8-9 Lets deal with the 4100 issues, and then I'll seek y'alls help on the 2700. Thanks in advance. I am a long time leatherworker, but new to machines above a Singer class 15.

Would this machine work for 8-9 oz lined leather projects?

Small, very annoying bobbin, but it saved me this weekend. It seemed to be the only machine I had that could do any proper sewing. Do not ask it to sew with anything over 69 tho. If you do it gets real cranky.

I have been trying to sew off a couple of projects this morning, but I can't seem to get the presser foot to lighten up enough to quit marking it. I have been on the computer all day with Techsew adjusting this and that to no avail. Can anyone help?

I am interested in buying a Tippmann or similar small table top clicker. Dont have the need or room for a large one. Please let me know what you have. Thanks

I really do love the way this new Techsew 4100 sews. I wasn't real comfortable with standing to sew on it so yesterday I lowered it to a proper height for sewing while seated, took one of my stools and cut the legs down to the same height as a kitchen chair, and let me tell you, this is the way to sew for me. I can rest my right foot on the lift pedal, and my left on the "go" pedal. As I have the speed turned down for accurate stitching I am comfortable using my left for the speed. If you haven't tried this on your big machines I highly recommend it.

Thank you so much

I am looking for a source for a die set to set boot lace hooks. Any ideas??

I am wanting to expand my holster business now that I have a machine capable of sewing them. I have found a few blue guns on ebay, and many others on US Cav.com "they are real expensive there" but was hoping someone knew of a better place. Thanks in advance.

Which Machine Would You Buy And Why
piddler replied to LeatherWerks's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Im far from an expert, but from your bio you seem to specialize in holsters. I just bought a Techsew 4100 and am very pleased with it for sewing heavy leather projects like holsters. In order for folks to help you you need to be a little more specific of the Juki and consew you are looking at. -
They are great machines. I'd say make the trade unless you have a lot in the trade machine.

Thanks for the reply, I'll give that a try. Has anyone ever tried a presser foot with less aggressive teeth? I think I have all the machines I'm going to need now.
-
Biker gear and repairs is exactly why I bought it. Sure is a weird machine to thread. Does anyone know where to download a clear copy of the manual? When I go to consew and look at their manual it looks like a 3rd grader printed it.

I went ahead and bought it. This thing has no marks on it, its basically new. Sore need some more room in my little shop tho.

So much for pics, got involved and forgot all about them. I'll post some finished pics in a few.

I bought the Techsew 4100

Got it all home last night and will begin putting it together today. I'll post pics as I go.

I can pick this up from a guy who buys storage lockers, for a really good price. Might just get it to make a profit since with all my other stuff I'm running out of room. Whay do y'all think?

Fiebing's Black Oil Dye
piddler replied to Mokosh's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
Anytime I use Black oil dye, I always let it dry completely and them buff it by hand with a scrap of sheeps wool. You can literally see the black lose any of the "prismic" coloring and just become a deep solid color. Ive never had any trouble spraying Angelus acrylic finish over it afterward. Hope it helps. -
Buy it.

I want to thank everyone for all the great advise. After a long weekend of uncertainty I "finally" ended upoing with a new Techsew 4100 with premium accs package. Ron worked with me for 2 days while my credit union couldnt seem to make my debit card work outside the country. I bet we spent a couple hours on the phone all together, if this is any indication to the kind of customer service I can expect in the future then you couldnt hope for better. Cant wait to get it.

Found a Cobra 4P I'm probably going to buy if I can get the price right.
