  1. Matt I am with Katass on the protruding muzzle situation and not only theoretically but from experience. A couple years ago I was splitting wood with my trusty gen2 g22 on my side in a belt slide style holster(granted this exposes more of the gun then your design) and carelessly stepped backwards onto a piece of split wood. This caused me to fall backwards and break my a$, although I was much more pained by the ruthless gouges that the gravel left in my previously unmarred old glock:(
  2. Matt That holster looks great, doesn't look like it's the first time of anything:)! Are you allowing the muzzle to protrude past the holster or just using the full-size to form for the compact?
  3. I did the same thing recently. Making my first 4-ply also for 1911,it looks very similar to yours all though it is 4 layers of horse hide and I just did an oil/beeswax finish on it. It is my favorite holster so far I really like the simple style much more than the fancy boning which I'm not very good at yet.
  4. Wiz I appreciate the pictures. That answered all my questions including what does #207 thread look like. Thanks D
  5. WizMy question was regarding the Chandler 406rb and if it would be able to consistently sew double layers of 8/9. This machine is limited to #207 thread? Thanks D
  6. Wiz Would this machine be adequate for holsters and belts?
  7. What Eaglestroker said! Simple perfection!
  8. Start by reading all the sticky post at the top of this forum then read the 170+/- pages of the rest of this forum. Every question you might possibly have will be answered some where on this site:)
  9. JlaudioI absolutely love your style!! It is so crisp and I like your understated boning lines. I personally don't like the style of making a cartoon of the gun on the holster. Your colors and finishes are just impeccable! Something that I find to be one of the most difficult areas of this work.I'm a fan!
  10. I gave it that cant for concealability and it does conceal great. The butt of the gun is driven into the love handle, basically disappearing. For me though it is a bit uncomfortable on the hip.
  11. I think it looks great! When you think about there has to a bunch of law enforcement uniforms that would match that nicely.
  12. Thanks Colt. I am really happy with the edges myself, but I didn't use the Parks method, I wish I had:( I used a plastic slicker, then some antler boning tool I have, then dyed it. After it had dried I burnished it with a dremel tool w/felt wheel and beeswax, I didn't like the results so later I burnished it w/dremel and gum trag. After all that it looked pretty nice but I had to dye the edge again. Finally when I was finishing the holster I put extra coats of rosolene on the edge. So the whole process was kind of a cluster, but happily the result was good. I have decided that the cant of the holster is to extreme.
  13. Hello all I have been lurking for a couple of weeks and have read 40+ pages of this forum. I have learned so much and really appreciate how freely you guys share your knowledge. I would like to show you guys my 5th holster, which I built for my new G36:) I apologize for the low quality pictures.
