Thanks guys for the comments. I can trace ANYTHING lol but drawing and figuring out where to shade and background and tool like tha I am still in the learning process. What little carving I do I try not to have to shade and background for this reason. Just try to use the "KISS" (keep it simple stupid) method for my stuff.. Believe me the lettering being off was not on purpose. The frigin font was off and I didnt catch it till I had already traced it onto the leather. I gues what Im saying about the letters also is I wish I had gottten alittle crisper and smoother lines than I did Kehl

hello folks lurked here for a while and made a couple post but this is the first pic that I have posted from anything I have tooled for a couple reasons. FIRST OF WHICH I SUCK WHEN IT COMES TO CARVING AND TOOLING. I have NO artistic ability what so ever. I cant draw a straight line with a pencil and a ruler LOL. I am a Firefighter/Paramedic for a living and a hard core get up ever morning waiting for next turkey season TURKEY HUNTER. I mostly make FF suspenders, radio straps and turkey call haolsters and pouches, but I also belong to FIRE AND IRON Firefighters MC. So i was sitting at the house mwssing around and thought I would give this a try and it turned out great in my eyes considering my ability. I know the letters are some what jacked up but all in all turned out pretty well. Kehl

Blue Guns With Free Shipping
lowlife replied to lowlife's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Sorry if this was posted in the wrong area. I was just trying to give a heads up for folks to try and save a couple bucks. I am by no means promoting them by means of being associated with them in any fashion I had only order a piece from them and got it fast. Just thought that anyone looking might want to order from them with the free shipping. Like I said. I am in no way connected to botachin any form or fashion. Kehl -
Go to the site and look under the "KNIFE INFO" link and it says inlay tutorial there Sorry I thought that it would go straight to the page

? About Making A Ccw Belt
lowlife replied to lowlife's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thanks again for the info.. This is a feebie for my best friend of nearly 35 years since the age of 10. One reason for me stating using 4-5 oz is what I have seen from some other but like was mentioned above I have seen 6-7, 8-9 and so on most of what i keep is for ff leather suspenders. that is usually 10-11 oz and there is no doubt in my mind that 2 pcs of that is way to heavy. I do keep some 4-5 oz on hand for my turkey call pouches and that was kinda where my mind settled in to being a good weight. I kinda looked at it as to what would be comfortable for me and that is where I thought 2 pcs of 4-5 I was planning on finishing edges pretty much to what lobo stated since that is pretty close to how I do mine anyway.. One more question just popped in mind. What is the best finish to apply for a natural finish with out dye or antique. -

Thanks for the info.. I havent made any belts before. I make firefighter suspenders, radio cases, radio straps and turkey call pouchs but never a belt and was just trying to get as much info before i waste a bunch of leather for no reason. I usually make my suspenders from 10-11 oz veg and they hold up great Kehl -
As far as the dyeing part no clue. just a word to the wise "MOMMA AINT HAPPY, NO BODY HAPPY" lol Always found this out the hard way I do alot of woodworking also (been building turkey calls for @ 10-12 years) so I have to do MOMMA projects all the time some of the being what I would call "A WASTE OF MY TIME AND HIGH DOLLAR EXOTIC LUMBER" but in the long run just easier on my life to accept it DO IT and things run alot smoother at my house. I had to make some PINK turkey calls if that tell anything.

Blue Guns With Free Shipping
lowlife posted a topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I found this site the other day and was surprised to find that they have free shipping on EVERYTHING with NO MIN. order.Thought some may be interested since I really pay close attention when ordering because of SHIPPING PRICE GOUGING.I had been looking trying to find a couple used blue guns but when you find them and by the time you pay shipping it usually ends up costing around 30-35 bucks to get them.. I would just as soon pay the 39.98 that this plcae sells them for wit free shipping and end up with a new one for 4-5 bucks more. http://www.botachtac...m/blguco19.html Kehl -
I have seen a couple but at the time didnt pay that close of attention to the but my best friend is wanting me to make him one. From what I have researched and "THINK" (used loosely) I have found out is that they are usually 2 pieces of 4-5 oz sewn together wwith a piece of webbing between. I understand that the webbing sewn in between stops the stretch of the leather or I "THINK" (used again) thats the concept. Can anyone jump in here and tell me if I am heading in the right direction and my "THINKING" in line with the correct way to do this.. Thanks for any and all responses Kehl

I havent had anyone ask for black and letters stay natual before. I make Firefighter suspenders and radio straps and the usaaly want the letters red if the are on black I guess and I paint them I could order some water base black and just go at it that way would prob be he best route anyway.. Thanks for the thoughts -

Just found the forum and am new to leather sewing.for the most part. I found a deal on 2 29-4s and bought them. i only needed the one but it was a package. Its a G serial # that has everything except bobbin winder and one gear for the shuttle. It even has the oil cup. Im looking to part it out. If there is something you need let me know. Im not looking to make a killing on it. Just to make a few buck to throw back into this leather sewing habit I have developed. Also have the table. Im will only charge actual shipping. Kehl
