  1. Thanks guys.

Glendon, I have that book, it is totaly awesome. I cant seem to find it at the moment, I think it's at work in the pile of leather books I shouldn't be reading while I'm at work.

King's X I'm going to check out your facebook.

What I was originaly looking for is something unique. I have a couple ideas and I will post them at some point if I succeed at them. If I don't here are my ideas and I hope that if someone does them that they post pictures.

One is a tube that holds the glasses with a removable top. I know, simple but the picture in my head is cool. The other is a sleve kind of thing that attaches to the computer monitor and holds the glasses out at a slight angle, easy to grab and easy to place them back.

    P.S.

Mike you are funny! An A.H. but funny!

  2. That's awesome help Chris! Thanks.

You are right about the room inbehind the covers. I checked when I went out to the bike. I never thought about forming the whole thing, I might try that next. First I’m going to try a semi-permanent cover (I’ll take pictures and post a new subject when I’m done). They won’t be anything fancy and I’ll probably use some scrap leather just to see how it turns out.

When you glue the pieces on do you rough up the side covers first or does the glue stick without doing that? I assume you use contact cement in the photo.

I live in the one place in Canada where we can ride all year round so I’ll probably wait until mid to late September before try the tank bra.

Thanks again and you’ll hear more from me.

  3. I saw somewhere, maybe here. Melt bees wax and use a toothbrush and rub the wax into the lace, both sides. Probably very time consuming though. Or, I got some stuff I haven't tried yet but it's bees wax based, I can't remember the last part of the name but the first part is "sno-" When I get home I'll get the last part of the name for you. Like I said I haven't tried it yet but it's suposed to be real good for protecting hiking boots and tough leather.

  4. WOW that's AWESOME work Man!

How do you make your paterns? I'm going to make a tank cover for my bike as soon as I figure what I want to carve on it but I still have no clue how to start.

Also, I have a 2002 Shadow ACE (American Clasic Edition) which was right before the AREO. I totaly love the side covers. How the heck did you do that!

If you send some instruction my way I'd totaly appreciate it!

  5. Hi everyone. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I am going to Garden Grove/Anaheim CA from the 14th to the 21st of September for work.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any cool leather shops in the area. I don't want to spend ALL my free time at Disney Land!

  6. I'm planning on making some gators for hiking and I don't have any oil tanned leather, only veggie tanned.

I've got lots of thicknesses and suede as well so designing and decorating (if I feel like it) isn't a problem.

What I need to know is how do I weather proof the leather enough to withstand harsh enviroments without totaly soaking them in neatsfoot oil, or is that the only way?

If you're not sure what a gator is; they are sleve like items that cover the top of your boot from about the ankle and go up to just below the knee. they are used to keep water and dirt from getting in your boots and protect your lower pant legs.

  7. Hi Christopher

I'm also from Victoria, I live near Tillicum Mall.

I'm no pro but if you want I can take a look at your leather and maybe give you some advice on the piece. I've also got tons of books and stuff so I'll see if I have a patern for you. I've never made saddle bags myself but I want to.

As for weather proofing it I'll check with my Dad, he'll know but I'm thinking many many coats of Neetsfoot oil would be required. Thankfully it's easy stuff to work with.

Let me know if you're interested.
