Hi Phil: I live about 30 minutes outside of Eugene. Lincoln: Yes, I bought this machine brand new directly from the Leather Company. I've had it probably 4 years but rarely used it.

I find that I do not use my Cobra 4 like I thought I would. It is basically new...probably has three hours on it. Comes with the full package of accessories...needles, bobbins, table top, etc. This machine is in perfect condition...has been oiled frequently and covered so as not to collect dust. $1,975.. Here are three more images of my work with pyrography techniques. I'm really enjoying this medium, even though there is a big learning curve and if you make a mistake, most times you have to start all over. Can be frustrating.

It's a lot of fun. There is a learning curve though (as with everything, I guess). Temperature is important on leather and learning what the different tips can do.

I recently began experimenting with pyrography on leather. Still have a way to go, but am enjoying the process. Here are a few of my first drawings.

For those who have laser machines, could you please give me some advice on the model and manufacturer you would recommend. I am interested in possibly purchasing one, but know nothing about them. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you, Avery

I, admittedly, do not know much about these machines. I am having problems with stitching close to the edge, even with a zipper foot. Also, I thought maybe a roller foot would not leave marks on the leather from the feed dog. Any insight would be very much appreciated.

Does anyone know If there is a leather roller foot available for either a Cobra 4, or a Consew 206RB-5? I've been trying to find one that will fit one of my machines. Thank you

At least now I don't think it's my fault this is happening. I've worked with leather using the same process for over two years and this is the first time I've ever had cracks. I originally thought it might be caused by using the Fribings Dye Reducer but now I'm pretty sure it is the Tandy leather. A very expensive education as well as delaying delivery of this order to my customer. I had to start all over...using a different leather in my shop which I don't have enough of. Guess I will order some veg tan from the Hide House, unless someone has a better suggestion for good quality leather. Thanks Avery

I live in Oregon, so absolutely have no issues with a dry studio. Yes, I wet the leather before making a bend. I have applied some Black Rock Leather n Rich to the back sides and let it sit overnight...It has helped, but I agree, new leather shouldn't crack like this. I bought it from Tandy, but will go elsewhere in the future.

Thanks....sounds like my problem exactly. Never had it happen before though so I'll pay better attention to treating my leather after casing.

I've been working with leather for about 2 years now and have never had this happen. I am making straps for a breast collar and after they have been died and treated, they are cracking when you bend them. I thought it was the particular hide I bought so made another strap from a different piece of leather and the same thing is happening. Straps are 3/4 inch wide, of 6 - 7 oz veg tan....they were cased so I could run a scribe line down each side. Holes were punched then they were died with a mixture of Fiebings Mahogany and Medium Brown, which was diluted with dye reducer. Edges were finished with edge coat and paraffin wax. Any suggestions, ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Avery

Thanks Bob. LTC....I just used scrap leather and didn't case it like I normally do. Also, it appears the top one has some antique added to give the pattern more definition.

For those of you who followed the thread on the running border stamp, here are the results. Bruce Johnson was absolutely correct.....this Jeremiah Watt stamp is exactly what they used. Very interesting stamp as you can get different results by flipping it back and forth or just using it as a straight line. In the first photo, the top "keeper" has the pattern I was looking for. The piece of leather below it has the pattern from the JW stamp - it was made by flipping the stamp back and forth (top of stamp up then bottom up, etc). The second photo shows the pattern this stamp will make by just using it is a straight line. Way cool stamp....... Thanks again everyone for assistance in finding this stamp. Avery

I make bronc halters with spots and I usually line the halter with fleece. They are also making domed rivets now...look like spots but a smooth back.

Thank you everyone. I had a few issues but overall am happy. PaPaw...no, I didn't change the stitching size but my machine did. This is where I ran into some issues. I'm still trying to figure out why my machine all of a sudden will do smaller or larger stitches.....I have a Cobra 4.

My sister brought me an old stool she found at Good Will, so I gutted the top and just kept the stand. Feedback.....good or bad...is welcome. Thanks, Avery

Hmmmmm....well, I will let you know when I get the stamp. I sent a photo of the border to Jeremiah and he said he had the stamps in stock...two sizes. I was just kidding on the bet....I'll keep you posted though. Thanks again

YIPPEE!!!!! I did just that...wrote to Jeremiah directly and he answered that he has both stamps in stock and can ship immediately. Thank you so much everyone on this site.....I never would have found it if it weren't for your help. A special thanks to Bruce for identifying the stamp......I didn't recognize it from the photo. So, JLS Leather....does this mean you just lost $8 (kidding)

Well, sadly the large border is not available either, it is sold out. Joe, can you tell me where you purchased your stamps? I will keep looking but it doesn't look like I will have much luck....
