Where did you get the little chain attachment hardware that i see in the picture?

Keep us posted on your results. I've been doing some research trying to figure out what the best material is. I have some UHMW and i did some testing on it before i even tried making a maul. What I found was that every hit on my stamp left an impression in the UHMW. All the info online as far as i can see(i am not a chemical or mechanical engineer) shows that this material has one of the highest impact resistance. I figured that means it doesn't break not that it doesn't dent. My next try was going to be Delrin. I was reading people's comments on the Bear mauls and they say it doesn't dent. I noticed some of them have brown heads and i did find that they make brown Delrin. I would really like to confirm what they use if anybody has a clue. Any confirmation or suggestion for material would be welcomed.

How did the UHMW work? Did you have to replace the head? If so after how long?

Andrew, I appreciate the quick reply and the amount of info provided. I can’t believe I looked at Bob’s website at least 100 times in the last week and have never looked at CB227R. That goes to show you how much help I need! That machine looks like a good way to start. I see you have the 335 so what do you use your 206s for? I am asking because I was initially thinking about getting a 206. Thank you

This was intended for Wiz but I decided to post it here in case anybody else has any suggestions. Let me start by saying that I am new to leatherworking and have never used a sewing machine before. With that being said I’ve been looking into getting my first machine and I could probably raise the money for a cb4500 but I don’t know if I can justify it(YET). I am looking for something that is as versatile as possible and I see you have a National that you are happy with. What I was looking for and I could not find in the forum is something along the lines of (like they say in my country .. the mind after the fact) with the knowledge that you have now if you started from nothing and you were doing a large variety of projects from leather purses and wallets to gun holsters what tools/sewing machines would you buy , in what order and what prices would you be willing to pay? Also I see you recommend going to a local shop for a machine. I live in Ann Arbor and I’ve been looking for such a thing around here but it’s been a fruitless hunt to this point. Is my best bet going to Toledo? I would appreciate any input you might have regarding this. Thank you Alin
