  1. Hi, Hoping someone can give me a bit of advice on finishing the edges on thin kip leather (1.2/1.4 mm) as I'm ordering some to use for making a wallet and some other bits. Is there a particular technique to achieving good edges with a very thin leather like this? I've been experimenting a bit with a sample and found it difficult to burnish using canvas as it's so thin and flexible. As it's difficult not to distort the edge when burnishing by hand, would it be a good idea to use a dremel burnisher (as made by one of the members here http://www.leatherburnishers.com) or would a soldering iron with one of these tips be effective? http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4852a48a5a Also, as I'm planning to buy a few more tools, is it worth buying a fine edge shave? I know Vergez Blanchard do a No.0 or would a Dixon No.1 be ok? Do i even need to edge such thin leather? Any help appreciated! Edd
  2. Do you have any photos uploaded? Yeh I'll have a ring round and report back if I get anywhere.
  3. I checked it out. Looks like it's extremely soft; perfect for making a bag. Have you tried it? I think shipping cost to the UK might be preventative but I'll shoot them an email anyway. Cheers Edd
  4. Aha, I think that's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for solving that one for me. Now, anyone know a European supplier for milled veg-tan leather?
  5. Hi, I joined this forum a while back but nearly every question I've had has already been answered in previous posts, so here's my first: Could anyone tell me where I can buy leather with a pronounced grain similar to the type in the attached photo? Is this a natural characteristic or might it have undergone some extra process? I've only used natural veg-tan from Leprevo (UK) and all the various samples I've had from several suppliers have had a smooth finish. I'd love to find a soft veg-tan leather with similar characteristics to the type in the attached pic or is this only possible with chrome tan? I'm in the UK btw. Cheers!
  6. Hello everyone. I've been reading this forum back to front for a while now and have been amazed at how much members with more experience are happy to share their knowledge with newcomers . It seems like a really friendly community and lots of people willing to help each other out. I made a collar a few months ago for my pointer and have been hooked since. I just ordered a few nice Blanchard tools while working in France so I'm looking forward to starting some new projects and hopefully improving my stitching. Lots to learn! Thanks to all that contribute! Cheers, Edd
