Well I have made a few purchases that came with stuff. And some big clearance days at tandy? And there was that incredible deal on line 24 brass snaps that @IHL had. A few of the lots I have purchased came with a lot of hardware. Wired thing is, I don't even use much hardware. It just keeps accumulating.

Bikermutt, you have the true leatherworker spirit! When you need one, you buy ten because you may make more, but usually don't. Seems we all have that problem. The organizer you are looking at is great. I keep mine in small Tetley tea cans, they are great and my wife keeps me in tins, lol. I use some painters tape on the outside so I can write what the contents are. Can't beat free!

  2. Your for sure not alone! I keep all my mistakes hanging on the wall by my bench so I can remember not to do that. My first belt with a name on it was upside down!! Now I always remember keep the buckle end on the left, lol. Anyone who tells you they don't make mistakes is a liar!

  3. Glad to hear you are joining the "Saturday every day" crowd, you will enjoy it. Thanks so much for your wisdom, encouragement and willingness to help other leather workers on this forum, and your great videos! Hope your still going to be here when we need some help! I had a fellow ask me for help with his Mexican round braid today and knew exactly where to send him! Thanks again and happy retirement!

    This is a good idea

On straight runs I put lolly [aka popsicle (?)] sticks between the jaws and the leather. This also helps to spread the loading further than the jaws themselves. On short runs or curves I just break the sticks to suit

I found anything hard like wood leaves marks on cased leather, then you have to fight to hold everything together to get it clamped right. I used to do it that way till I figured out a better way.

Well...isn't that just nifty! gonna file that little piece of ingenuity away for my own use...thanks for sharing!

I know others use a little piece of leather on the clips, I just figured there had to be a better way. Plus I get rid of all those little end pieces from the belts we all make and save but never seem to have a use for, lol.
