  1. very nice saddle!
  2. I have been a lurker for almost 2 years, but really just started to get really bitten by the leather bug. I'm up in Manitoba Canada, I'm a mom of 3 ( 5,2, and 1), happily married to a guy that isn't as into the leather work as me, but is happy that I've found something i enjoy and can do at home. I've owned and raised horses for most of my life and so the leather work I'm most interested in is related to tack, riding apparel and equipment. I'm hoping this year to learn to use the Singer 112W140 that I have, fix a few leather halters I have, and keep improving on my cutting out, casing and tooling/stamping of leather. .. Long term, I want to build myself a saddle, makes some headstalls and pulling collars that I can be proud of and continue to make some spur straps. Also want to build myself some nice chinks ( yes i have big dreams~! but gotta dream big and go for it ) Love this place and the amazing information that I have found on it!
  3. I have been mainly ordering through SLC ( where i am there isn't a local leather shop!!) I've been looking at Weaver Leather stuff, but trying to find a place where I can order ( since i don't consider myself to be good enough or big enough doing leatherwork to get a biz number and try to order wholesale.... need to just call them when I get a chance. Thank you for that supplier list it is wonderful. And glad i'm not the only one frustrated with the quality of Tandy right now.
  4. Do you still have this?
  5. I am a few years late even looking at this, but just wanted to say it was a great first saddle! as for the stingray, I know a large number of barrel racers that love it on their seats
  6. I like it! only thing i'll say and it is not a critique because I don't feel qualified to do that!!!... is i'd love it even more if it had the Cheyene cantle rather than the pencil roll this is something that in the future i hope to do!! I'm sure someone will "take it off your hands" and love it at some point!!! how many saddles hove you built now?
  7. I am just finding this thread now as i was reading volume 1, with 2 and 3 waiting to be read and thinking "i have never seen Vol 4...." and wondering if it had been published... Thank you for the other ideas of where to look for information. Oh how i wish they had been able to publish more books!
  8. Looks like what we call a correction bit based on what i can see of the shape of the port( no matter what it is called a curb bit due to the shanks on either side of the mouthpiece, and this one as another poster said is a ported mouthpiece, they can have jointed ones. ) Any marker's Marks on it? the rings at the bottom of the shanks tell me that it was likely meant to be used with romel reins and rein chains.
  9. beautiful... I bet all the winners were darn happy with them ( know I would be!!)
  10. completed my first set of slobber straps! not perfect but they'll work for a first attempt!!
