I'll take any words of advice on my shield I kinda just took a shield I had traced it on paper and then put it on leather and cut it out

I'm new to leather working and starting to do my first helmet shield I was sent to talk to you I am a firefighter in southern Ohio any help is much appreciated

So I am brand new to this whole leather working thing I've done some research but really don't know what I'm doing I am a firefighter in Ohio and planned on tooling upa shield for my helmet i wanted to go one layer tool it paint it but really don't know where to start I have the shield already cut out just don't know where to go now any help would be much appreciated Thanks in advance nick
