  1. Yeah, I know what you mean. Stupidly I got confused with it and criss-crossed them, ill remember that!
  2. Recently been expanding my designs with a new dye (oxblood) and made a few iPhone cases, keyrings and a card case! Been doing small leather products for a month or so and I think im progressing nicely but I want to know what you guys think! Any ideas or criticisms?
  3. Hi there, I need a little advice. I was going to make an order to Le prevo for some new veg tan and something caught my eye, on the hides page (http://www.leprevo.co.uk/hides.htm) under "Dyed Veg-Tan" are Belt Shoulders. Probably a very simple and stupid question for me to ask, but does anybody know what they are? It's cheaper than normal undyed 3-3.5mm veg tan shoulders but I cant seem to get why its cheaper even though its dyed and the same thicknesses. Any ideas from your point of view? One further question how different is matt veg-tan compared to 'normal' veg-tan leather? Is it literally just the aesthetics or is there something else to it? Thought it'd be better to ask experienced people than to buy it and possibly waste my money! Thanks!

    Arbor Press

I've decided I want to get a stamp with my logo on it to start stamping onto my products. I have limited space as I am a student in student accommodation at the moment and need to transport everything back in summer, I thought of getting an arbor press for stamping my leather. The one im looking at is 1/2 ton and seems ideal if I put a slightly different base on it to stamp on, its relatively light at 9kg. However, im not sure if it'd be suitable to stamp leather well enough. At the moment I'm mostly using 1.4mm calf leather but Im hoping to move up to 2mm then 3mm at some point for bags/belts etc... will a 1/2 ton arbour press have enough force to stamp these types of leather well enough to show the logo? my logo isnt particularly complicated with just text. As you guys are very knowledgeable I thought it was best to ask before committing to something I dont know much about! Any help would be great :D
  5. Im looking into making leather Satchels etc... and Im stuck between what type of leather would be suitable. Im not talking about colour or pattern, I mean the thickness of the leather to use. I have no idea which would be best suited so I'd like opinions from anybody who could help if possible! I dont want to get an unsuitable thickness of leather and waste my money so you can understand why im asking for help Thanks
  6. Hi all, Im looking to start learning to work leather and make my own items out of it, however since im pretty much brand-new to the idea im not sure what to look out for. I dont want to spend a massive amount of money on leather at the moment because I simply dont know if i'll be any good or want to use an expensive piece knowing that it would well get ruined by me. I was wondering what your experience was with buying leather on ebay I found this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10sq-ft-SUPPLE-NATURAL-VEG-TAN-LEATHER-1-5mm-thick-POUCH-RE-ENACTMENT-LARP-/130955394938?pt=UK_Crafts_Leathercraft_LE&hash=item1e7d8cbf7a and I was wondering what your opinions are on it, I was looking to make a fairly simple biker style wallet - or atleast attempt to and would appreciate any help or thoughts anybody could give me on this, thanks!
