  1. I used white saddle sharp today to do the initial edging On my belts. I'm using a drum dyed leather. Anyway, I applied the saddle soap with a wet sponge and burnished my edges. I'm now noticing that where the soap smeared into the leather it is leaving dark spots. I tried wiping it away but it's not coming out. Any ideas? I really don't want to scrap this belt and start over. Thanks! I used white saddle sharp today to do the initial edging On my belts. I'm using a drum dyed leather. Here are some pictures of the samples I received from Roger at RJF. One is Coffee and the other Black. If you contact him, I'm sure he will be more than happy to send you some samples. Awesome guy to do business with.
  3. I used tan-kote once on a test piece and it left very bad streaks. I have always wanted to use the acrylic resolene but the local tandy store I use said to stay away from the acrylic resolene due to my interest in making suspenders and belts. Is the Fiebing's leather sheen spray (in a spray can) the same product as the resolene that you said to mix 50/50?
  4. Can somebody suggest a way to spray Fiebings tan-kote? I called fiebing's directly and they did not really have an exact amount to dilute for spraying. Or has anyone used Leather Sheen to finish projects? I'm making suspenders and belts and the finish needs to be durable. Thanks

I believe it is. The back is nice and smooth. Black all thwart through. Stamps and cuts really nice. You can call or email roger for more specifics. He is very I open to questions and replies to all emails. I have a few samples of bridle at home but I am currently out of town. Again, give him a call or shoot him an email. SACL

I ordered two double shoulders from roger and they were both really nice. One was drum dyed black and the other is natural. I thought the prices were great snd his communication, service and even shipping cost were great. I will placing my next order with him very soon!
  8. Sorry, overall piece. My projects consist of belts between 1-1/4" - 1-3/4" wide. The picture above is something I saw on eBay for edge burnishing and thought it might also work for overall polishing.
  9. After final dying and top coat application is there something more consistent to use to give a good final buff/polish? I was thinking of a bench top buffer with a polishing pad or even making my own pad out of 100% wool, cutting it in two inch rounds, stacking them 2 inches high and securing them into a mandrel (see pic) Then attach to my drill press? I don't know? Shoot me some ideas or should I just stick to the old cotton rag and elbow grease? Thanks in advance.
