Tandy Embossing Rolls With Bunkhouse Machine
DianeWood replied to DianeWood's topic in How Do I Do That?
Ok thank you! You think the tandy rolls will fit on the bunkhouse machine i just need to adjust the amount of pressure against the leather? I recently orderd a bunkhouse machine and still waiting for it to get shipped to me but Im wanting to use a older tandy wheel if i can find anybody that has it, if it will work ok. -
Has anyone used Tandy embossing rolls with a bunkhouse embosser machine?

Does anyone know where to get all (not just the one circled in the picture) these embossing rolls from? What magazine/catalog is the page from?

Lois, would you be willing to get the other floral rolls like in my picture to make me belt blanks from them? I see you do have the floral one with the beaded oval, but I would love the other ones also.
-
I sent a picture of the ones I'm interested in and the names of the rolls are on there also.

Thank you so much for the reply. Yes I am definatly interested. Im mainly interested in their floral designs, I'll send some pictures of them I know that would help.

Does anyone on here have a bunkhouse embosser and wheels? I asked them if they could make me belts but they said they couldn't so Im looking for someone that wouldn't mind working with me on making leather belts using their embossed patterns if they have the machine and wheels. Im interested in almost all of their floral designs that they offer. Thanks Diane.

Also would you happen to know how to apply Gilders paste? I know some of that on the pictures is paint and dye so im guessing i do that first then apply the paste over that? Would i use a cloth of some sort? Also does it need a sealer over it to help it stay on better?
-
Thanks I sent them a email asking them if its possible that that was used to acheive that look or not.

Does anyone know how to do this and what it is called? Is it a dye in different colors or a paint or what is the process to get leather to look like the pictures below? Someone told me its a burnishing technique but i wanted to see if anybody on here knows how to do this in all them different colors? Thanks, Diane

Okay thank you so much for the helpful info on the machines. Where do you get your spots from do they make any thats longer than 5/16" on the prong length because i also use very thick leather and on certain projects i use double ply leather sewed together and those prongs just arent long enough and i see people all the time using two pieces of leather the same thicknes and also a lining to and i have never figured out how they get the spots to go all the way through that, i dont know if its the special machines or longer pronged spots. I currently use standard rivet but all they carry is 5/16".

What type of machine are you currently using? I set spots by hand and am also getting tired of it and wanting to upgrade but I want it to do the samething on setting them close. Do you set your spots by hand before you sew your stuff together or afterwards? Also would you happen to know how people set spots along the edges of their tack to where it looks like it is right next to the sewed lines or even ontop of the lines? I posted a picture below to show you what Im talking about.

They are just the simple two or four prong spots with 5/16" prongs and they come in 1/8" and up in size. They look something similar to them just not a rivet, they have prongs.

Does anyone use the gold star hand press and has had success with it? I'm wanting to use it to set spots but I see on their site they don't have dies for spots. Does anyone use another brand of spot dies with it? Thanks, Diane

Does anyone know where I can get western floral belts that are unfinished? I have been searching and searching for them and cant find them. I also have pictures below of what the pattern looks like. Thanks, Diane

Do the tacks stay in the leather properly? I have never used them before.
-
Thats what i thought but with that being a thin piece of leather do the spots go all the way through then wat do they do with the prongs because its already sewed together, surely they arent showing on the back side.

Does anyone know how to set spots with a hand setter just like in the picture below? I know how to use the tool but I just don't know how they put the spots over there sewed lines? Thanks, Diane

These are for decorations someone has a premade tack set they want me to decorate with spots and swarovski crystals. I found standard rivet company that makes harness spots that have crimped prongs that set up inside thick leather instead of going through to the back of the leather, but i havnt had much luck on finding swarovski rivets or the rimsets to set them myself that are kind of like the crimped spots. I thought about crimping the prongs myself on the rim sets and seeing if they set up inside the leather like the spots would but im afraid they wouldnt work out.

Ok thanks i will try it and see how it comes out. I looked in one of my springfield leather magazines and they have tublar rivets that looks like they are longer on the other end that is considered the mate. Do you know anything about those kind of rivets and do you think they would work with my swarvoski rivets also?
