  1. Here is a video of my work area... I picked up a new camera (GoPro 3 White) and decided I'd try and make some videos of my leatherwork. I am just a beginner, however, I have learned so much from other people (of all skill levels) posting videos that I figured that maybe someone could benefit from my little knowledge or, from my mistakes... I'm new to making vids and new to the GoPro as well so I hope you don't get sea-sick watching! All comments are welcome. (I have thick skin as well as the ability to ignore any non constructive comments.) (Click on the word "video" above to link to YouTube.) Thanks!
  2. sandanieleeI know this is an old post but, in-case you are still looking for ideas, I recently did a holster for a dragon fanatic... I used a Craftool U855 Mulefoot... Dyed it green first then used the block-dye technique to cover the tops black. Customer was happy so...
  3. Thanks plowboy73! any idea how it happened in the first place?
  4. I used Tandy's Gel Antique (Brown) for the first time on a wallet for a customer and this is what I got... IT'S GREEN!!! But, I like it, and so did the customer! A few projects later, I thought I'd use the "green" again but, no mater what I did on scraps, I could not get anything that even resembled a green color... Do you think that the first time I used the product, that I did not shake it well enough and a green pigment came through, and now it has dissolved and I will not have it turn out like that again...? Any suggestions on how I could get close to this green again with other dyes/methods...? The green water based comes out nothing like the above green...
  5. Any suggestions and/or constructive criticism? I get a lot of great comments from friends and family but, I think they are required to tell me that! ;-) Looking for some honest feedback from those who obviously know more then I do... Thanks!
  6. My uncle was confined to a wheelchair and did a lot of small sized wood turning and leatherwork... (What ever he could do at his desk from his chair.) He passed about 25 years ago and a few months ago a cousin of mine found all of his leather tools. He was going to sell them but ask me if I wanted them. YES!!! I always loved working with leather as a Boy Scout and loved to watch my uncle tool leather as well. I started trying to make me a holster via YouTube videos and such. It turned out OK and I'm still using it everyday. I showed it to a few people and haven't stopped making things out of leather since... Here are a few projects. All suggestions and constructive criticism are welcome. Glad to be here and can't wait to learn more from all of you! Mike
