Actually what I use is alder twigs but I guess any twig would do. I take my sharp knife and (just like peeling a carrot) I whittle down the stick to size then stain and put a finish on it....I like the rustic look I just posted some pictures under LucysLeather and you can see a couple of feather hair barrettes that have them. Im new to this and just saw I could add a picture...hope it worked
