  1. Ah. Hermes and Louis Vuitton. Two houses that have absolutely beautiful craftsmanship. Sadly, I don't any shops nearby where I can browse and look at finished construction. The LV Speedy bag and the bucket bag are two I would love to learn to do. And Hermes' kelly bag style.
  2. Absolutely beautiful work. I am also self taught and want to do work as beautiful as that. Where did you learn your leatherwork?
  3. Absolutely beautiful work. Absolutely beautiful bag. You are very skilled.
  4. Thank you TRADERnel and Mudruck. No, that wasn't a typo. Hermes sells purses for $38,000. And if I remember correctly, their Birkin bag still has a multi years long waiting list. Some people are still waiting to buy a Birkin while people like the Kardashian sisters own several.
  5. Did you make your own pattern? I've been wanting to make a bag like this myself. I also hand sew everything I make and am still newish at leathercraft.
  6. Thank you FDL. Any input on a bucket bag type purse a la Louis Vuitton? I want the seam to be hidden on the inside. My next challenge is adding pockets to the inside lining before bonding outer and inner leathers together. I am no good at pockets but i love them for my phone and a strap for attaching my keys so they don't get lost in the bag.
  7. I just want to say "thanks" for posting a link to this paper pattern. It helped me figure out a better way to make a winged gusseted bag a la the Celine Trapeze Bag that I adore. I am pleased with how my version turned out as I am still newish to leather crafting. I don't have a working sewing machine so I have to hand sew everything. This is my first post to this site.

    From the album: purses

I absolutely love the Celine Trapeze bag and its winged gussets. Since it is way beyond anything I can afford I tried to make my own version. I used blue alligator embossed cow leather and an oxblood suede lining. The gussets are made from black remnant leather. I know in this photo the flap looks crooked but it really isn't. I am quite pleased with how this turned out as I am still newish to leather crafting. Since I don't have a working sewing machine I have to hand sew everything. The seams are 1/8th inch from the edge and the stitching holes are spaced 1/2 centimeter apart.
