No responses. I guess I'll put it back in the drawer.

The books are now SOLD.
-
Here's a picture. No, I don't know what to ask for it yet. I do not know if one sold recently. Selling off stuff is kind of new to me. Mike

How 'bout $80 for the big one, Leather Secrets and $60 for the little one, Design Artistry. That would be $140 for both and shipping is extra. Yes I take Paypal but you'll need to add 3% to cover that cost. Mike

These are the big books. Fold out pages, hard plastic covers. Tons of patterns, ideas, projects and more. I do not know if they are still in print. I'm still thinning out the craft room. I don't what other folks may need or want. Mike

The small one is gone. That leaves the big one. $50 plus shipping for a large python, I believe that's a good deal. Mike
-
OK, they're gone. I hope they do well at their new home.

I have a couple of python skins I'd like to find good homes for. One is marked '32 x 450' and it is long and wide. The other is marked '16 x 215". It is smaller. My math says that 32 is about 11 inches wide and it does measure out to about that. That makes the smaller 16 to be about 6 inches wide. Those of you who know snakeskin measurements can figure this out better than I can. Anyway, I have photos. The price -- $25 for the small one and $50 for the big one. Buy both and I'll toss in an extra skin of I forget what kind of snake. Yes, there's a photo of that, too. Please forgive my lousy photography. Mike

It's now spoken for. I appreciate the kind offers but it goes to the first, not the highest, offer. Mike

I first met Robb Barr when I took a class he and others hosted. I met him on other occasions as well. These knives were supposedly made to help defray the expenses of Robb's heart operation. Only 100 were made and most of those went overseas. I was able to buy number 87/100 when they went on sale. It's pretty and has a ton of sentimental value. But lets be practical, I have other good knives I am much more willing to use and the times are tough. Until I change my mind and take it off the market, I will accept $365 and that does include shipping and insurance. Mike

If someone wants the whole group (books and patterns) the price is $40 plus shipping. Both books, $15 plus shipping (a new one is $20 at Amazon) Just the patterns and garment stuff, $25 plus shipping. I'm mainly trying to find good homes for this stuff. Mike

I have a 32oz Pro-Series (Bob Beard) black maul I'm willing to part with. Nerve damage prevents me from ever thinking of using it. Here are some pix. If no one is interested, I may try my luck on ebay. Mike

I don't plan to do any garments so these patterns need to go somewhere they can be used. I'm open to barter, swap, sell...whatever. Mike

Here's a picture of mine. It's a 32oz. Mike

What? 8 tracks are gone too!

It's been a couple of years or so since I have tooled any leather and now that I'm thinking of trying again it appears that things ain't what they used to be. I checked to see if Doctor's might carry binders or notepads to their conventions and trade shows. Nope. Copies of presentations are given out and paper is handed out should anyone actually want to take a note. Check books? Nope, debit cards. Photo albums? Nope, got 'em all on my hard drive, don't need copies. Maybe I'll stick with pictures. Folks still hang them up on their walls don't they? Just to the left or right of the flat screen TV that occupies most of the wall. Mike

I happen to have one. Mike

In my case, the use of an airbrush will require some investment in tools, either in purchasing or repair and my funds are small. More importantly, it will require learning a whole new skill set. I am nowhere near the level I'd like to be with hand brushing but I'm fairly competent. Slow but competent. I believe airbrushing could perhaps simplify things but I just don't know. I know it would take a lot of practice to gain some level of competency with the airbrush.I'm curious to know if folks who use airbrushes once dyed by brush and if so, do they use both methods, return to just doing it by brush or have just completely switched to airbrush only. BTW, most of the coloring books or lessons I've seen use hand brushing. I do have some Doodle Pages by Robb Barr that demonstrate airbrushing but that's the only examples I have. Mike
-
I suppose from the responses that not many use an airbrush. I had that they were more popular. Mike
-
I'm thinking of bumping up my coloring a notch. Is airbrushing the way to go? I've laid off leather work for 2-3 years now and plan to get back into it. Is an airbrush commonly used in coloring your leatherwork? (My past colorwork is at http://www.pmrleather.com) Mike

I don't have all the books but I do have Buckskinning 1 & 2 by Muzzleloader magazine. Mike

Tandy sold some books/collections by F.O. Baird that had billfold directions. Beth Berry also sold a book of hers that had billfold's in it. Or you could use a kit instruction sheet. They gave the images of interior pieces. Of course, there are several companies that make quite nice inserts that only require you carve a back. Mike
-
Just curious. I used to use it glued to mat boards that I would rubber cement leather to while carving. I believe some used it as a stiffener. Mike
-
True, but my budget cannot afford the time, cost of materials and such that a project like this would entail. I have a purchased cover from Amazon that has the look and feel of the Moroccan leather found on some bibles. That's for a plane cover. The interior is a fabric with the feel of felt and then there's a stiffener between the layers. Quite a bit of work for a hand made project. I'm just not set up with the facilities to tackle such a project. Not even for a single one. Mike
