Nice. Making up a headstall with design flow and function is a tougher project than most fj -
JW Your rigs always look like they are made by a fellow who knows what its like to use the business end of a saddle. Thanks for postin pictures. FJ

I am pleased with the Laporte tree rig I have.Used 10 oz skirting and it weighs just over 30 lbs. Rode it for a while as a bare bones, with the right amount of pad it worked well. Fenders are a must or leg pinch was a S.O.B. FJ

Steve I have bought a tree a few months back { cable rigged}.Hung stirrup leathers on it and have been using it so I would have a better idea Of what I am working with.Bars are a bit on the short side when compared to a standard tree, but seems to fit a horse O.K. when I pad it correctly. Will get it finished in the next month or so and really start using it. Frank P.S. Photos of your saddles are an inspiration

Laporte poly-tuff cable rigged trees

Bruce Thanks for your input. I hear you on the handmade quality part. That is why I bought a Harwood saddle when I was ready to make the jump from store bought rigs. Was thinking more on the lines of making up a lightweight outfit to start colts in.Easy to throw on and built to be used a bit harder than my regular rig.The Hamley information is interesting. The more things change the more they stay the same. Thanks again for your reply. It answers my question. Frank -
