Thank you Gregg. The white spot on the pulley was hidden by the upper belt guard. Now, it's been removed and I can see it clearly now.

That was my problem. It truly wasn't at the highest position to release the bobbin thread. I was trying to pull it our before it was truly released. This is an easy adjustment. Thanks for the advice and help !!

That's really a great idea about the bobbin cases. I will grab extras. Yes, I do hang on to the extra thread for the first few stitches. It is a great machine, and I don't know what has happened. My wife has used it a couple times, and she said there were no issues other than a very small bobbin birds nest where I think she forgot to lower the presser feet before sewing. I am getting frustrated with this. I wonder, since the only real issue seem to be when the bobbin thread is released, I wonder if the needle positioner isn't off a bit, and I'm just assuming it's at the top of the stroke? Going to go try that now....

Good Afternoon Folks, I need some help with my Consew 206RB5 This machine is basically new, has less than 4 hours sewing on it. It recently started acting up on me, and as you can see from the attached pictures, it seems to be doing something goofy inside the bobbin. I have made no adjustments since receiving the machine, and no thread size changes. Still running #69 thread. Any ideas? I will say this machine is a bit of a pain to remove the bobbin. The manual says to remove it when the needle is at the top of the stroke, but the bobbin will not come out at that point. It slides out easily when the needle is almost flush with the plate. The needle and hook timing looks good however, it appears to really check it you have to pretty much dismantle the feed dog. In reality, I have a needle positioner, and when I back pedal it, the needle goes to the highest position. There is no way the bobbin will come out at that point. It will only come out when the needle is about flush with the feed dog and is best removed or inserted when the needle is on the upstroke and clear of the bobbin housing. Any suggestions?

Good Afternoon, On my Consew 206 RB5, I really can't stand the knee lift for the presser foot. I want to change it to the chain/pedal type. There is a hole in the casting for a chain, and the mechanism is accessible, I just don't know where I can buy a pedal assembly. Does anyone have a supplier they can recommend for that part? Well, I am truly glad to know that this machine is stronger than a bull, but there's one thing I've learned over the years, and that's to respect my investments, especially when it comes to machinery. My other hobby is building motorcycles, and just because one of my Harley's can do an awesome burnout to the point of tearing the tire right off the bike, does not mean I'm going to do it.....ever. I know that when I walk up to it, it will start every time, and I treat it with respect, and it treats me right as well. I can understand the plywood, especially when it comes to briefcases, but I'm still not going to run my machine thru metal just to see if it can. This machine cost me way too much to be treating it that way.

Wow !! A license plate !!! I'm going to have to look for that one. I bought a Consew 206RB-5 about 6 months ago, and love it, but realized that I needed two different machines to handle the varied type of work we do. We do leather garments all the way up to motorcycle saddlebags and such. The machines make sewing so much fun !

Congratulations !!! I too just ordered a Cobra 4P from Steve today. He really is a good guy. He p0ut my mind at ease and made the process so very simple. I wish there were more folks like him !! It's going to be about a week before mine is delivered and I am so excited I'm going to find it hard to control myself hahahaha !!

Tom, I realize this is an old post, but I'm really wanting to make a vacuum setup like yours. Can you tell me what thickness the natural rubber is, and a good source to purchase a piece? Thanks, Chris

To be totally truthful, he has treated me pretty good so far. I got myself into this by choosing to save money and assemble it myself. I should have realized from past experience that most things from China dont have good instructions. Zamir did send me several pictures and a set of instructions that were marginally better than the factories documentation. I'm just really grateful for you guys and that I didn't totally destroy this machine.

Ok, HUGE sigh of relief !!!! I was so afraid I'd screwed this brand new machine up. But luckily, the only thing wrong was I put the hand wheel on too tight and it was pressing against a hub that I couldn't see due to how it's mounted. Thank you all so very much for your help. There was nothing that said, "put the hand wheel on the shaft til it bottoms out and then back it off before tightening the screws". Again, I will suggest to anyone not familiar with sewing machines, pay the extra money to have them send it pre-assembled.

Thanks Wiz. I bought this from Zamir Sew in Los Angeles. It was set up and tested there before shipping. I have a call into him now, and just waiting for his return call. I should have paid the extra $$ to have it shipped fully assembled.

Yes, this is without a belt. Is there some.sort of shipping mechanism that locks it while its being shipped?

I'm just assembling my new Consew 206rb5. Im a little concerned. Shouldn't the pulley be able to rotate? It is extremely stiff. Any suggestions?

Would the Techsew 0302 handle that? If not, could you suggest a machine within my budget that could? Two pieces of 7-8 would be the maximum I would ever be doing, and then not that often.

First, I want to thank all those who contribute to this board as it has helped me immensely over the past 6 months. I have read as much as I can in regards to choosing a machine, almost to the point where I have read too much information and am beginning to get confused. Reading Wizcrafts post was extremely helpful ! Ok, a little background. I am returning to leatherwork after being away from it for quite awhile. I am going to venture into sewing and I'm ready to buy a machine and learn to sew leather. My wife already knows how to sew with a machine, but just fabric. I don't believe in buying a cheaper machine as a starter only to have to buy a better machine down the road. The intended use of the machine will be to sew medium weight leathers for things such as motorcycle toolbags and saddlebags and chaps. Also some lighter weight leathers for Ren Fair type armor etc. My wife wants to use it to sew halter tops, vest and things out of softer leathers I'm guessing like deerskin. Would the Juki DU-1181N be a good machine for me, and would it sew the lighter stuff my wife wants to sew? Please help me here as I'm going to make a purchase son, and I don't want to buy the wrong machine. I have a budget of around $1200.00 which will get me the 1181N. Thanks in advance for your help.
