About Me
My name is Dan, I am a lifelong IT/computer/network support professional for over 25 years. I've been a woodworker for years, making furniture, jewelry boxes, pens, pencils, almost anything involved in woodworking. I got interested in leather a few weeks ago. I made a Cherry men's valet for myself from some scrap cherry i had and decided it would look nice with a leather top sort of like a leather writing desk. So begins the leather addiction, I found the Tandy Leather store here in Raleigh, NC bought a bag of remnants and finished the top with a leather inlay. Now I can't stop. I'm looking, reading, researching all I can. I enjoy making my own tools, I've made lots of woodworking marking knives, I always try to use what is available at thrift stores, Habitat stores and old hand tools. I have lots of woodworking machines and saws, but I've started leaning more towards handtools over the years. I get tired of all the noise from the machines. Old jigsaw blades and sawzall blades make great DIY knives.
