  4. In all honestly, there is no such thing as a cheap tool. You get what you pay for. If you are going to be selling your stamped leather products buy the best you can afford as it will show up in your products. We all buy with price point in mind. Your 3 levels of auto tools would be as follows, Harbor Freight, Craftsman and Snap-on. This is no different when it comes to leather tools in general. TLF i presume have their stamps die struck, well the stamp looks like it was the 12th million stamp that was struck by that same die. It has lost its sharpness, pattern etc and plated on top of that which reduces its non existant sharp lines and patterns which will show on the leather you are stamping. I have not used any of the middle of the road stamping tools as i was fortunate to be introduced to Robert's tools before i started buying. I only use RB Pro series tools and have no regrets paying the extra dollars for them, yes i could not get them all at once but worked real hard to get product out the door to be able to get more of the tools that i needed because of the job they did. The feel of the tool in your hand, the balanced weight, the crisp deep pattern gets the job done easier as mentioned in another post as well as Robert will custom make you stamps as well. My RB tools are handmade one at a time, will never bend or lose their value, guaranteed. You pay for that, no different than a Fiat and Ferrari and we can all see the differences there. Enjoy Ian

  13. In response to Kevin's posting. You cannot compare the Adler or 441 clone to the Randall, Campbell or Landis. The Adler is a Needle machine and the needle has to do all the work and that is why the needles are larger than the needles of an awl machine of the same size. It takes a tremendous amount of force to go thru some thick leather with a needle machine as opposed to a needle / awl machine. The other machines the awl makes the hole and needle comes up thru it. If you do not have the correct needle in the Adler for what you are going to be using it for you will land up with problems that you have stated. An example of trying to sew 5/8'' hard leather with a leather needle that is sized for # 138 thread. I have run a Juki Pro 2000 for ten years without a single problem and bought an new Adler 205-370 for a back-up just in case, and have never needed it. I also run 4 x landis 3, 4 x randall's and 3 x straight needles, so i am very familar on how all these machines work. Regards
  14. Open Letter to All Leatherworker. Net Members. from Artisan Sewing Machines. I am pleased to announce some very special pricing on our Artisan TORO 3000 & 4000 R models. As of today, the Artisan Toro 3000 will be offered at a remarkable price of $1650.00 complete with a left toe presser foot, a right toe presser foot and a double toe presser foot. Our Deluxe Roller Edge Guide will also be included. As always, there are extra bobbins, extra needles, and some thread to get you going. Needless to say, our Limited Lifetime Warranty and Lifetime Customer Support is a part of every Artisan investment. HE DID NOT SAY THAT THIS WAS FOR THE WICKENBURG SHOW ONLY IN HIS ORIGINAL POST. ANY NORMAL PERSON WOULD HAVE ADDED THAT IN THEIR POSTING, RUNNING A SPECIAL OR WHATEVER SO THERE WOULD NOT BE A RUN ON THE COMPANY. The Artisan TORO 4000 R will be offered at $2750.00 with the same great accessories and service as the TORO 3000. For those of you wondering why we might be doing this, the answer is quite simple. We will be introducing two brand new Second Generation models very shortly. These have been in the design and testing stages for the past few months and will be available once we have sold our existing stock of the current models of TORO 3000’s and 4000’s. PRETTY MUCH THIS POSTING IS OFFERING THE SPECIAL PRICE UNTIL THE STOCK IS GONE. THAT IS HOW IT IS WORDED, AM I WRONG As some of you may realize, when ordering castings from the foundry, in the interest of keeping prices affordable to you, our customer, we must order a minimum of 400 of each model at a time. Once we have depleted the balance of our current models, we will introduce our New Artisan Second Generation machines to the general public. We thought you would like to know. Artisan Dave MAYBE THIS WAS DONE TO HURT STEVE
  15. This Adler 205-370 was purchased new nine years ago as a backup, less than 2 hours on the machine so it is nearly brand new and has been sitting ever since. Comes complete with machine head, bobbin winder, table, motor, speed reducer, thread stand, light, couple packs of needles, extra presser foot, 2 x bobbins, extra throat plate, 205 timing device and plastic Adler cover. I do have the instruction manual but I am unable to find it at the moment. I will purchase a manual if I cannot find it. Machine is located in Phoenix, AZ Machine will need to be crated for shipping and I will do that for $ 50.00 $ 3000.00 firm, no trades. Thanks for looking [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
  16. I haver never seen shark advertised as chrome tan. I have bought $15,000.00 of shark over the years and it is all veg Tan. Thanks 525BRWN
  17. The only shark that is out there is Veg Tanned, you CANNOT mold Chrome tan or should i say it wont hold a shape, but in order to make a holster out of shark, it has to be laminated to regular veg tan leather if indeed you will be molding or boning the shape of the gun into the holster. You can also just add a piece of shark as trim also.
  18. These sold the first day i listed them. sorry

  21. The real good old razor strops were made out of horsehide. They start off being stiff and over time they get darker and softer. the reason for using horsehide, it made the blade sharper as the horsehide was smoother.
