Ebay is going to be your best bet. It took me almost a year to find the ones that used to make up the Tandy rodeo set. Unless you need them real bad, don,t get carried away bidding on them they do turn up and you should not have to pay 25 dollars for a 3D stamp.

I got 3 pieces of granite from a monument maker. Two of the pieces have a name and dates on one side but the other side is smooth. The 2 pieces with markings are roughly 8x17x4 and 10x20x6. The other piece is has 2 smooth surfaces but has rough edges. He did not want to name a price just said give him what they were worth. Since I stopped him from work, I gave him 20 dollars. He was happy and I was happy so good deal all around. He even took my wife and I on a tour of his shop to show us how he made stencils and engraved the stones.

I use an arbor press for all of my lettering and most of my 3D stamps. I also use it to imprint leather using old metal and wood printers blocks. If you are stamping thin leather use something like poundo board under the leather. A hard surface is fine on thicker leather. I extended my handle with a piece of pipe and covered the pipe with foam pipe insulation.

acrylic paint
Snuffy replied to walletman's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
I have had good results with regular acrylic craft paint. My brother has a set of lever covers on his motorcycle that were painted with craft paint from Walmart. After months of riding in all kinds of weather, they still look good. I will try to attach a photo of a kickstand cover that was painted with the same paint. -
I have sample rings for my 3D stamps and alphabets. I cut 5-6 oz strips long enough to hold one "theme" such as western or wild animals. I use the plain wire shower curtain rings to hold the strips. My wife uses a small notepad to write a customers order for a key fob or bookmark and puts the order on my work table. I don't put all the strips on one ring so more than one customer can be looking at a time.

Nice work. You are not stupid, just new technology challenged. My father in law called me to help get his new TV system setup. He said he would have done it his self but he was too dumb. I told him that we both just know different things. He is an outstanding horseman but the saddle would probably fall off if I tried to saddle one. Same with my Mom. She will call me to take care of something at her house and apologize for being too dumb to do it herself. I told her the time may come when knowing how to kill chickens and can the meat for later will be worth a lot more than knowing how to repair a flush toilet. I think we all have different skills and if we try, we can learn new ones. Snuffy

Most of my scrap is cut into small geometric shapes which I let kids "help" stamp with a 3D picture stamp. At the Christmas rodeo this past year, I gave away a lot of these. Of coarse this does keep people standing at my booth longer and sometimes that leads to a sale or two.

I was visiting the Tandy store in Charlotte,NC this weekend. Found out Robert Beard is scheduled to teach a pictorial tooling class in April. There are still a few openings left. Call the store for details at 704-536-8898.

I went by Zack Whites a couple of weekends ago and they have a couple of used machines for sale. I did not write down model numbers. You may want to give them a call because they would not be far up the road from Chatam county.

I don't have any pictures right now and anything I made that was nice enough to show is no longer at my house. Hope to have something to show oneday.

Actually my nickname came from a habit I used to have not from the comics but it's nice that someone else knows who Snuffy was.

Hello from central North Carolina. I've been lurking here for a while but decided I should signup and introduce myself. I do leatherwork mostly as a hobby. I only do one or two rodeos or craft shows a year and mostly sell scroll sawn woodwork at those. I started the leather thing because I was wanting to make knife sheaths. The only one I've made so far is one for the knife I use to cut leather. I have enjoyed reading posts on this forum and hope that one day I will be able to contribute.
